I think there is a lot of potential for awesome games (and I'm sure some nasty exploits as well) in the tag team game. The added dynamics of different match-ups and longer combos seems really interesting to me, and I think it would be really cool if there was a high-level 2 vs 2 tournament sometime featuring single and a tag battles with a set-up something like this:
Team A - Team B
Player1 vs Player1
Player2 vs Player2
Tag battle
Player1 vs Player2
Player2 vs Player1
First team to win three matches wins, obviously. Individual matches would be best two out of three.
Any thoughts? Will the tag mode even be seriously used or will it disappear into nothingness? If nobody plays it, it might not make it into the next MK, which I think would be a real shame.
