Lt. Boxy Angelman
I WILL EAT THIS GAME
1. I don't know how it can even be debated that Fox isn't the top story of the FGC the last couple of years. The only person you could realistically compare to him is Chris G. The two of them are beyond a shadow of doubt in a league of their own, regardless of where you're from or what brand of fighter you most readily identify with.
2. Why the hell are so many people so much more concerned with who's better than who or which class of player is superior instead of just focusing on their game and striving to get to that level? If you consider yourself a competitive fighting gamer, what else matters other than striving to reach that apex? If more players were more concerned with raising their own skills instead of fawning over Fox and trying to discredit a once in a lifetime kind of player, we'd have a much collectively stronger and wiser playerbase.
You know who isn't concerned in the slightest about any of this? Players like @YOMI RM JagoBlake . Who hit every show they go to with the intensity of the fucking sun and aren't worried about anyone's placements or powers except their own. I saw the heartbreak in his eyes when he got knocked out and it literally inspired me and made me want to take my style more seriously, anywhere close to as passionately as he does... because it reminded me that while everyone gets so caught up in the usual throes of tournament chaos and, for the last long while, waiting for Fox to clean house, that you tend to forget the fire that burns and makes you want to do this in the first place.
And while I'm as big a fan as any of his, I will say that it wouldn't be nearly as easy for him to knock over show after show if more players would focus on getting to that level instead of just accepting the status quo.
