Spawn's cankle doesn't have unique animations. You can even take it off if you want to.

Okay. with the way that was written, I think I now know why Ash was delayed. MGM can use the liscense from AoD to lease out Ash to MK. They do not need permission or anything to use the character via AoD, due to wonky liscensing. It's the same reason why Ash vs Evil Dead didn't make any overt references to AoD. So, what I think is, after the leak happened and Bruce Campbell found out, his release was delayed so contact could be made between him and Netherrealm to secure his approval and vocal talents.
