I had a couple of ideas for the skin problem. First, the beach theme is actually workable and tasteful. We stay away from Team Ninja and go for actual, practical outfits.
Cassie - Onesie with shorts (daisy dukes, whatever). It's attractive, form fitting, but not really more so than her current skins.
Jacqui - Surfer outfit with the body suit, but not the full one to show off some leg and arms. Again, form fitting but practical and something you see normally.
Takeda - Scuba gear, body suit, air tank over his rig, goggles and maybe a snorkel hanging loosely. It isn't over the top and it doesn't go with the typical "women be nekked and men be intimi-buff!". It works with his suit already given we'd have to have his whip rig still present.
Jin - Beach pants, open shirt, rounded straw hat. He'd look like a normal guy out for a beach barbeque with a hat that still refers back to his Shaolin/Kung heritage.
And playing off the idea of a special forces, elite team mash up, why not something along the lines of a Secret Agent pack? Something that accents that these characters are supposed to be discreet, globe-trotting force for military-sanctioned good.
Takeda - Dressed in a spiffy suit, a la Bond. Simple yet relevant to this theme.
Jin - Tactical assault clothing, a la Bond when infiltrating somewhere. Given how obvious Jin's bow, quiver and chakra are, the tactical feel that would accent weapon usage feels like it would fit him more. You could probably just copy past a Bond outfit from one of the more recent ones. Something with a tactical, turtle neck, of course.
Jacqui - Femme fatale Bond girl variant. It'd probably look something like Black Widow's outfit, but it would still look good and make sense with the gauntlets and her training.
Cassie - Moneypenny-ish skin.
For the other newbies, I can't see how we don't have Alien D'vorah, Eastwood Erron and Shao Kahn Kotal coming down the pipe. I can't think of anything great for Ferra/Torr that is better than Master Blaster.
