Question - Shinnok Shinnok Unlocked?

I started playing as soon as my digital copy unlocked, and right away went to practice mode, noticing Shinnok was "locked until completion of Story Mode," and after a bit, I explored some of the other modes, and noticed Living Towers and Factions weren't "available" (assuming because the games servers were just coming online). About a half hour later, the servers had Living Towers and Factions up and running, and for some peculiar reason, Shinnok was now unlocked for me and I haven't touched Story Mode at all.

Anyone else have this happen?

I'm having problems unlocking story mode itself. I googled it and apparently you have to complete the tutorial to unlock story. I've done tutorial twice and still nothing had unlocked
