Roster for the sequel of the New Era's MK?

It was sad to hear Kombat Pack 3 cancelled. Hope the New Era can continue and not be rebooted again.

Plus with Scorpion being Kuai Liang & Bi-Han as Noob Saibot again, what becomes of Sub-Zero? And becomes the former SF warriors now turned OIA along with the Black & Red Dragon clans?

So man questions! The next antagonist better be the Dragon King this time!

Anyways, who would you all choose to join the main roster?

They need a reboot Cianciolo story is so shit that it's uninteresting to keep up with, i don't even bother to aknowledge that Khaos Realm it's cannon.

IMO NRS needs to stop for a while, do something else, or do a MK game with no story attached and just shime in characters for ppl to play while they iron out the main title again.

They need to stop making fighting games and just go ahead and make an action adventure game or a different genre.

NRS's inspiration is clearly not there anymore for fighting games.

They need to go away for about a decade and make new games.

Mortal Kombat is in its dark ages right now in a similar vein to the 3D era. It's become bland because it's identity has been stripped away.

I know the next game if it's MK again that the marketing is gonna suck. I know they are gonna do that stupid mystery game of 'guess which characters are in the game' nonsense that they do. They'll barely tell you how the game works on the Kombat Kast and they'll barely communicate with the community and trick people into pre-ordering through pretty graphics, fatalities and a gimmick mechanic and gimmick mode that will get people hype whilst hiding any glaring issues with the game. Those glaring issues will shine upon release.

They really just need to lean in on the only thing they have left which they can some what salvage and that is the lore. They got to create a beat'em up that develops the characters in MK. Shaolin Monks 2 or an MK Beat'em up game is the only MK they should do. Another fighting game will just burn people out.

Personally if it was my decision I would make another game in a completely different genre and give the MK franchise a break.

If you have to do MK then take the Shaolin Monks route because at least you can keep the fans that love the story. You can create a more collaborative mode for multiple players to play together whilst simultaneously giving people the story and lore they love about MK. MK as a fighting game is bland right now and the next one if they keep stripping away the identity of MK will do a lot of damage to the franchise. The beat em up could redeem the franchise if they reconnect with the elements that made people love MK. Also they'll be forced to add content to Shaolin Monks 2 to keep people engaged.

To me NRS cares more about the casual audience so if it's them they care about most then just cater to them and give yourself time to actually craft a good fighting game because what they are doing right now is just not good.

I think making a different game in a different genre will help them come up with fresh ideas.

That's my opinion.

My idea for fixing the lore: make a Shaolin Monks adventure type MK culminating in (or even better, starting with) the merging of all the timelines back into one with something like "ultimate villain succeded in controlling all hourglasses and the heroes found the only way to depose them was to shatter/merge all of them".

Come back slow with MK.

Give us an adventure game.

Hell scale WAY back and give us a TMNT: Shredder's Revenge style beat em up that's super gory (but pixelated so its not ultra realistic) and load it with story/character interactions and playable people and keep expanding it.

I dunno, the brand is deeply damaged at this point. This feels like the New 52 with DC all over again with a reboot being a total failure so now we're either stuck with the shit new continuity or rebooting again or reverting back to what we had.

If I have to pick one of those three options? Revert. Have the sands of time rewind to the INITIAL time travel event with MK9...and proceed from MK9's opening with Shao winning and having to face the Elder Gods who resurrect people or something. Like I said, I dunno. The damage is BAD. Earning back the faith of players is going to take a lot of effort.

MK11 should have ended with Kronika winning and restarting the timeline again. Then we never see or hear from her again.
