Resident Evil 6 (Demo) Review / Guide

Vampire Jesus....he wants YOUR blood now!!
How is having ammo, weapons, and health scattered on every corner have anything to do with the survivors specifically being more prepared for these situations? Now I can understand them learning how to throw punches and leap out windows, but the enemies being utter jokes of what they used to be has no logical explanation.
i guess it is kinda weird that they have ammo scattered all over the place, but then again, if the only way to get ammo was in a few select places there'd better be a shit ton of it there in one place, rather than having a mutlitude of small quantities scattered about, and once u use that stockpile of ammo thats it. An idea like that COULD work. but it would cause problems for casual gamers i suppose.

and as for the easy enemies...maybe professional mode will fix that?

I can admit that one of the Majini's looks like Jean-jaccques, an Angolan basketball player and the streets sounded similar to a place near of my grandma's house.
And i have to agree with you here, that doesn't sound racist by any mean, i actually enjoyed.

Now for RE 6, i agree with REO here, way too much ammo, and that route feature shouldn't be in, but still after testing the game i found it to be interesting in every aspect of gameplay, nothing to complain, besides of what's been said.

I dunno why a lot of dudes are not looking forward for this RE, sounds interesting, specially Leon's Campaign
Leon's campaign is the only thing that could PROBABLY save this game...probably.They had good ideas, but there are a few things that takes the spotlight of the good ideas and making the whole thing look bad.

They haven't added a difficult mode that has catered for the hardcore Resident Evil fans since Resident Evil 3. I doubt they will care all of a sudden, since the casual fan base is all Capcom gives a rat's ass about. And it's much deeper than the problems I mentioned. Enemies in old Resident Evil games used to NEVER flinch or stumble when you shot them unless you got a critical, which was rare. It would take an entire clip (and sometimes more) to kill a single zombie. Now you can just machine gun countless zombies while they drop items, too. The worst feature ever brought into Resident Evil is still from Resident Evil 4, and that is enemies dropping items upon death.

What is your opinion about the new tripping over zombies on the floor? :D

They need to ditch quicktime events, they're so frustrating and add nothing positive to gameplay.
in that case...never play Asura's Wrath...Lol

i love that game btw.

And btw, as for the idea of enemies dropping tons of ammo. Yeah it is kinda dumb, but at the same time it doesnt really bother me. Considering most of the games i played as a kid had hot, fully cooked turkeys on a plate that you'd find inside trash cans that you could break open. And eating it would heal all ur broken bones and gunshot wounds....Just like real life!! :D

I played Leon's story first, and I was impressed. I got scared here and there, loved the eerie atmosphere, but still is not good. Better than RE5 though

Then I played Jake's and I was like great RE5....

Then I played Chris and it was like COD and Gears of War mixed. Ill wait till it is 19.99

I really miss old school RE

to hell with that, im buying this game as soon as it comes out lol.

re5 was my first ps3 game btw :)

This new quick-time event system feels different than other games though, it's somewhat more interactive and I like it.Kind of like in the part in Leon's campaign where you search for car keys, I thought it was just a simple cutscene then I accidently moved my left-stick and I was like, WTF lol

I know REO already read this but Ima post my Facebook status I made after I played the demo...

"Survival Horror has been my favorite genre of gaming for quite some time now. All the gamers on my friends list can agree with me that now a days its a dead genre. One of my favorite game series unfortunately has turned into a brain dead action game and for those who don't know what series I'm speaking of its Resident Evil.

Today I tried out the demo for Resident Evil 6 and I haven't played such a shittier game in my life. Now I do prefer the older resident evil games due to it being LEGIT survival horror, but I did love Resident Evil 4. It was an action game, but had its moment of suspense and the atmosphere was freighting enough at points that I consider it an RE game. If they took RE4 and made the rest of the series play just like that except with less ammo and more moments of suspense and horror I'd probably fap like non stop. Instead the creator leaves b/c of capcoms greediness and we get the Lost Planet creator to work on them (At least I still think he does) and get a disaster of a game series.

I just wanna point out this rant is my opinion which is kinda obvious but I have to make it clear b/c I knw some dumb asses are gonna say "WTF R U TLKN ABOUT HERP DERP!!!?"

Now the reason for my rant is how shocked and dumfounded I am after playing the demo for RE6. A friend of mine recommended me to try the demo out b/c he hated RE5 and like RE6. So I figured you know ill give it a shot but my jaw literally dropped and a almost cried laughing at how bad this game really was. Not b/c it doesn't play like classic RE but how bad of an action game it is. Let me explain...

Ok one thing that I noticed was the thing about regenerating health was true. My friend clarified that its the last bar of health that regenerates to compensate for the friendly fire. One thing is that their is no friendly fire and secondly that the regenerating health is not just the final bar. How it works it that when u get attack you loose health but will leave a small amount of red health that will fill back up, but the more u get hit u start to actually loose health. In a game that claims its a "HORROR GAME" Regen health is kinda stupid and doesn't make sense b/c now every time I get hit I shrug it off and say "I have no fucks" I ran in like Rambo screaming like an idiot and got away with that. That wouldn't have worked in RE4 or Gears or Halo.

Another thing is the fact running out of ammo isn't a problem in RE6. They have a button specifically for Melee attacks which rapes the zombie enemies. Granted you can't get away with this on harder zombie enemies like tyrants, but u can for the normal zombie enemies which makes up most of RE's enemy percentage. So the melee attacks can utterly decimate the zombies. A simple kick blows a zombies head clean off their bodies. Now this combined with the regn health I literally ran up to 80% of the zombies and just mashed the Melee button like I was Chun-Li or Kung-Fu Panda. Its absurd that the Melee does more damage than the bullets do in RE6. The Hit detection seems to be off as well. I noticed sometimes when I was kicking the zombies my foot would go through the zombies chest and wouldn't connect or that id hit a zombies head off and not even be close to its head. Also the knife is OVER FUCKING POWERED. How does 1 swing of a knife cuts a zombies head clean off? I was confused as fuck when that happened. At least the hit detection on the knife is actually good.

RE6 introduces a new mechanic where you can slide on your back and lay on the ground shooting the enemies. You can move and shoot while doing this. Now I'm not one who talks about realism, but most people look for that ESPECIALLY in action games and lets be real you can't crawl back or forward and have perfect aim and be able to shoot. Idc who you are there should at least be some sort of accuracy drop when doing that like in other shooters.

I only played Leon's and Jake's scenarios and I gotta saying that this is nothing like RE4. Everyone and their grandma was saying that Leon's scenario plays just like RE4, but it doesn't at all. last time I check I can't just run up to a group of zombies and mash the knife attack and not get hit. Zombies don't sprint like track stars in RE4 either. Both scenarios feel EXACTLY the same to me.

There is 2 redeeming qualities to RE6
1) It is visually impressive.
2) When you shoot balloons they pop.

Overall I feel like Superman playing a RE game b/c everything is just so easy. Its really brain dead for an action game. I got through most of Leon's and Jake's demo scenario by dicking around mashing kick and knife attack or just wasting bullets not giving 2 shits. The controls feel kinda wonky especially when using the newly placed floor mechanic. This game has zero moments of suspense and even if it did why would someone be scared when they can regenerate red health and kick zombies heads off all day. This game literally requires very little thought when playing it and I don't wanna read this or hear from anyone that its a demo and the real game will be different. Listen here!!! The game leaked in Poland like 3 weeks ago and will be released in 2 weeks. The game is finished and this demo is the final product. I can see why people like the action style of the new RE games but if people end up saying that this game is good or its the BEST int he RE series then honestly your fucking retarded I'm sorry.

A good friend of mine Branden Thomas said this something once
"I never thought the Resident Evil games would get shittier than the movies, but then I played RE6"

This game is so shitty that I actually took time and wrote all this....

rant over"

What is your opinion about the new tripping over zombies on the floor? :D
I like it just because it affects the rambo run-and-gun players the most. It's a nice little feature they added to turn up the notch in realism and add a tad bit of difficulty, but it's still not enough. They have such a long way to go if that's the route they're trying to integrate now.

Vampire Jesus....he wants YOUR blood now!!
This coming from a guy who probably didn't grow up with the Resident Evil classics and enjoy the series when it was at it's best. New generation Resident Evil players need to migrate to COD already, where people will take their opinion more serious.
lol, i grew up with the resident evil classics, and they were great. The only ones i've beaten so far are Code Veronica X and Re 2, but i do want to get and beat the others as well.(outbreak was just plain retarded). but im also open minded and happen to like what their trying to do with the re series.

Theres a big difference being open minded and not caring about playing bad games. Its fine if you like it but doesn't make it a good game though. I play and like bad games...nothing wrong with that.

Still RE6 is garbo.

i'll be the judge of that once i get the game...from the demo so far, i'd give it a 7.5/10 hopefully the full game will bump that up to an 8/10

Killphil

A prop on the stage of life.
There are other differences that need to be taken into account before crucifying the game.

1.)This is an early build demo, so hopefully changes have been made since.

2.)The game play is vastly different from the older series. Enemies are armed and move faster now, as well as more being on screen at any given time.

3.) Melee attacks have been op since RE4. Once you reach the castle you just shoot every enemy in their shins and suplex them into head explosion or near death. This works from the castle to the rest of the game on normal enemies.

4.) The whole being prepared thing is more chris' campaign. He actually looks like he has an arsenal, which leon and jake do not. That being said, every enemy dropping ammo is retarded still. What happened to just running by instead of having so much bullets that accuracy doesn't matter. I would like it to be more like you have to pick and choose who to shoot and where to shoot them to create openings/melee opportunities, ect. Also, can you be hit out of melee animations or is invulnerability still in play? EDIT: Makes me wonder why leon never brings more than a fucking pistol with him. He's a government agent working directly under the president ffs and all he takes with him to face biohazard outbreaks is a pistol?

5.) If it looks like I'm defending the game, its because I am. Have I played it? No. Aside from the regen health thing, This game would be no different than re4. Lets face it, you get an abundance of ammo in that game as well. Professional difficulty wasn't even hard. All they really did was make it so you die in 1-2 hits, which if you understand how to abuse certain mechanics, the game is still easy to play.

6.)Lastly, I thought the first 2 RE movies were actually pretty good. Of course I got people telling me "the second was bad dude" like matter of fact. The movies are a different universe, and ever since seeing this last installment, I've developed this crush on milla jovovich. Sue me. Sometimes I like to watch a movie just for the fun part of it, not to think about the deep meaning behind the craftiness of the plot or characters, which these movies have none of.

REO, place all main RE titles in a tier list, starting from Zero. Go.

As Leon; all I did was fling the butt of my gun around and survived.
Here's hoping Veteran is nice and painful.

i could probably make a tier list.
hmm...lets see.

Resident Evil original (The dialogue alone secures the #1 spot for this game. Anyone hungry for a jill sandwich? :D)
Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil Remake
Resident Evil Code Veronica X (code veronica and zero could be flip flopped i guess)
Resident Evil Zero
Resident Evil Revelations
Resident Evil 6
Resident Evil 5
Resident Evil 3
Resident Evil 2
Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City ( i had no idea where this should honestly go...i've only heard reviews, and their fairly bad...unless patches made it any better. Info pls :D)
Re: Umbrella Chronicles & Dark-side Chronicles
Resident evil Dead Aim
Resident Evil Outbreak Files 1 & 2
Resident Evil Gaiden (resident evil on gameboy color...LOL)
Resident Evil Survivor (its terrible)

Go to hell.
I liked RE1 and RE2. I vastly prefer RE4 to both however. RE5 was complete ass, and the beginning of my transition off of RE and into Dead Space. I'll wait to really flush out RE6 before forming an opinion, but I think games like RE4 are the only way to keep this series alive and relevant. As of this moment, I'd say Dead Space is superior in atmosphere, scares, combat, story, and environments. RE has better characters, but that's hardly enough to keep this series afloat.

The games need to progress and find a new gen flow or they will die and be replaced. RE4 was better in every way, and I would say I appreciate the first two a great deal, but we need to be realistic here.

My thoughts on the demo: I loved it a lot actually. Leon/Helena had my favorite campaign...it was amazing and atmospheric, I felt overwhelmed and creeped out pretty good at times, it felt very traditional Resident Evil feel, amazing. My second faves was Chris/Piers..I actuallly LIKE that it's different from Leon's campaign, I like variety when I play video games and I felt like I was playing a radically different game, which makes it fresh and engaging to me. I didn't feel like old RE and that's fine...it's variety for me.

I'm not sure how I feel about Jake and Sherry's part, seemed I dunno more brief to me in some respects that the others.

The creators of Resident Evil 6 are seeking to create a compromise, a story mode that caters to new fans, classic fans, and those in the middle like myself who appreciate and enjoy both the old and the new alike, something for everyone if you will.

I found the game a bit too easy.

As Leon; all I did was fling the butt of my gun around and survived.
Here's hoping Veteran is nice and painful.
They usually keep demos a lot easier/accessible from my experience than the completed game.

I'm honestly a fan of all of them. I enjoyed Resident Evil 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. I never got to play Code Veronica or watch it on youtube video playthroughs, it's definitely a must eventually though.

Gesture Required Ahead

Get on that hook
If you have never played Code Veronica you missed out on the last GDLK RE game and you shouldn't consider yourself as a fan of the franchise. I forgave RE4 since it at the very least TRIED to be an RE game.

Everyone keeps saying "its an early build blah blah" You do realize this game was leaked in poland like 2/3 weeks ago and APPARENTLY its pretty similar to the demo we got. Face it...the game is being released in 2 weeks and its gonna play like this. Abandon all hope

Wow your awfully generous with a 7.5. Id give it a 4 and that's just b/c I can pop balloons and enjoy the visuals.
