This is my first (and probably only) Character guide i will do. I feel like there are almost no reptile players at all so i thought this guide would be a good idea. I hope this will help some people who wants to play this lizard. Feel free to give some critizism and help me improve the guide, as i´m not so much into theorie in mkx.

Also i won´t go into the variation Nimble in this Guide, because i haven´t touched it yet

1. Normals and basic strings


1 - 10-frame high attack, used for punishing (+2 on block)

1,2 - Meterless starter which can be cancelled into ffb
~31% used for punishing (+1 on block)

1,2,1 - ~14% results in a hard knockdown (-6 on block)

1,2,3 - ~11% Corner carry (-7 on block)

1,4 - ~7% Can be cancelled into (ex) ks (for ~30%),
results in a hard knockdown (-2 on block)

1,4,1 - ~14% corner Carry, can be armored out on second hit (2 on block)


2

2,1 / 2 1 2 - ~6/~9% High into mid (+2/-8 on block)

2,1,2,4 - ~11% High into Mid, Meterless launcher for up to ~25% dmg (-8 on block)


3

3,4 - ~7% Meterless starter for ~32%, up to 40% in noxious (-2 on block)

3,4,D4 - 13% mid into low (-14 on block)


4 - High 7% (+2 on block)


B1
- 2% high, can be cancelled into ks/kp or (ex) ks/kp for combo (+2 on block)

B1,D4 - Meterless high into low starter, can be canceled into ffb for ~33% dmg (-7 on block)


B2 - Overhead meterless combo starter for up to ~22% (+1 on block)


F2

F2,1+3 / F2,1,1+3
- used as an combo ender/extender for more dmg (-11 on block)


F3
- Low starter if you have meter, you can follow up a f3 with (ex) ks or (ex) ffb
for up to ~29% dmg

F3,B4 - Low into mid string that does 18% dmg
(-12 on block / enemy get´s knocked back so it´s pretty safe)


B3
- Low starter if you have meter, you can follow up a b3 with (ex) ks or (ex) ffb
for up to ~29% dmg

B3,4 - Low into mid string that does 16% dmg (-7 on block)


F4
F4,1 / F4,1,2 - Mid into second hit overhead, meterless starter for up to ~32%dmg
can also be canceled into (ex) ffb or (ex) ks (-5/-6 on block)



2. Specials

If blocked all specials of reptile are extremely unsafe!!

Fast Forceball (DF3) - Used after 12,b1d4 or 34 as combo starter.
(ex) version is after b3,f3,f412 as combo starter (-19 on block)


Slow Forceball (DB3) - used after 34 ffb midscreen, you can also 34 sfb (-19 on block)


Slide (BF4) - Used as combo ender, also used to come close to the opponent,
or dodging projectiles. (ex) version is armored and almost fullscreen
(example : slide under clone throw or high projectiles) (-22 on block)


Acid Spit (DF1) - Does 5% dmg, you can zone a little bit with df3/db3 and df4.
There are better zoning tools though. (-16 on block)


Klaw Pounce (DB4) - Overhead, (maybe?) good option if someone expects a slide wakeup
(-17 on block)


Klaw Swipe (DB2) - good anti air, (ex) is armored and you can combo on hit
(-11/-10 on block)


Reptilian Dash (BF2) - Good for mobility, (ex) can be used as combo starter,
DOES NOT have armor (-18 on block)


Reptile Disfunction (X-Ray) - Almost never use it, you can combo after xray (+8 on block)

3. Variations

Noxious - Reptile didn´t shower for 1 week and smells like sh*. You can activate the poison for more dmg DD3/(ex) DD3 (0,2% / 0,5% / 1,% per tick)

Deceptive - Reptile was in the shower for 1 week turning him invisible,
you can DD3 (hold to charge X) or (ex) DD3 for 100% invisiblity

Nimble - Reptile is on drugs, thinking that he is faster than his enemy!
You can do some nice and more damaging combos while he is stoned. Activate it with DD3 or (ex) DD3 (you can use the ex version in combos)



4. Advanced Combos

Almost all combos are Midscreen (meterless)

12 xx ffb njp f41 f412 slide - 31%
12 xx ffb njp 21 f412 slide - 29%
12 xx ffb njp 21 f3b4 - 28%

2124, run, 21, slight run, f412 xx kp 28% (Males only)
2124, run, f412 xx kp 25% (Female version of previous combo)
2124 rc f412 ks - 25%
2124 rc f3b4 - 24%
2124 rc b34 - 23%
2124 f211+3 - 21%

b2, rc, f412 xx kp - 23%
b2 rc f3b4 - 22%

5. Matchups

Also you should consider the dmg you can get out of each starter

(meterless)

34 >= f412 >= b1d4 >=12 >= 2124 >= b2
(metered)

f3 >= b3 >= f2 1 1+3

b2* - you´r b2 starts off too far away for b2 rc f412 kp . You have to do b2 f21 1+3

5.1 Kung Lao

5.1.1 Tempest

I´m going to start the matchups with Kung Lao (Tempest), because many people play Kung Lao

Strings


- Canceled into Head Spin = HS
- Gap = there is a gap between 2 hits where you can armor through


b22 : (-17 on block) : [12,b2,f412,f2 1 1+3]

f23 : GAP : (-22 on block) : [12,f412,f2 1 1+3, b1d4 2124, 34]

Specials :

Spin / (ex) Spin : (-25/-28) : [12,b2,f412,f2 1 1+3, b1d4 2124, 34]

Divekick -

Hat Spin - : (-3 on block) : Every String which is canceled into Hat Spin has a gap, you can easily armor through with (ex) db2

i prefer consistency over dmg so i don´t know the most damaging combos. I use the combos i learned and i can pull off. Also i rarely use bars for combos. Meter goes almost only into breakers and armor wake ups. It´s more usefull for me because you won´t get much dmg out of bars. Just do it if you can kill someone.

If you want to combo without njp in f412 you can do f412 repdash 21 f412 slide. Also you can start combos with f412 ex db2 or f412 ex ffb (you won´t get more dmg out of those and you actually "waste" a meter)

This guide needs updated with the new meterless BnB's that were posted! :p

123 is not a HKD. It's a splat. Meaning a lot of hit advantage but can be tech-rolled. Similar to Sonya's 2134
i said it´s a corner carry, not a hard knockdown :). Im not good in theory though :p

well it´s not wether i can do this combo or not. Actually im not using f412 repdash njp f41 f412 slide because i can´t do it all the time.


But i´m gonna edit the combos into the post

I'll post something on my execution trick for these. I get every combo consistently in match besides the d3 slides, i get those every 1 in 3 tries but i lose nothing from attempting them.

Do you have any decent damage optimal midscreen combos that start from Reptiles low options or am I forever stuck having to spend meter for damage?

Man I'm still in love with those double slide combo's, getting them down more consistently as well. Was able to land them a number of times at our monthly yesterday.
