Replacing PDP TE stick with Sanwa buttons or IL buttons?

I'm looking to to start modding the PDP I have and trying to decide which buttons to use. I noticed most people are using the IL button with cherry switches. Will the Sanwa buttons fit right in despite being snap in unlike the stock buttons which are tightened with a nut?

No, Sanwa will not fit in a PDP stick, unless you can do some crazy modifications. Your best, and easiest option is IL buttons with cherry switches.

I know this may some like a dumb question, but since I am planning on getting a stick what makes Sanwa buttons so popular and a must have.

They're the most common pushbuttons used in arcade machines in Japan, if I'm not mistaken.
