1) Injustice (My all time favorite fighting game)
I'll repost what I posted several months ago about Injustice:
Everything from the over-the-top super moves, ridiculous interactible damage and absurd stage transitions all the way down to the monotone, serious nature of the female commentator's voice serve to make the matches feel important. I love the mechanic of universal, armored combo-launchers. I love the concept of character traits. I love the clash system - I think it's borderline genius. I love, love, love interactibles. I love the practice mode (is there a better one in the history of fighting games???) I love how (relatively) balanced Injustice is. And as a guy who never could block, I love how ridiculous every character's offense is. I love Bane. I love Killer Frost. I love The Joker. I love Injustice.
2) MKX
Brilliant game. The main reason I favor Injustice over it is because I think Injustice did a better job of incorporating a larger variety of play-styles. But, Brutalities own and this game owns.
3) MK9
The start of something special . . . but, too many problematic fighting mechanics and balance issues to compete with the other two, far more polished, competitive fighters on this list.
