It seems to me that b1 has some sort of priority over many normals, trading for the shit range and mediocre scaling for combos after b113. Is there truth to this?
I think you're seeing your back one hitting another normal. When you do swing at a poke (a normal attack) you can hit it. you're hitting their attack essentially.
But I don't see how back 1 does anything different from other strings
