Possible UK Tournament

Hey guys,

So I’ve been looking into the possibility of arranging a UK MK tourney seeing as there isn’t much in pipeline over the next couple of months. I figure it would give some more incentive to the London casuals if we have something to aim for. So far I’ve scouted out some possible areas and think I’ve found a pretty decent venue in Stevenage (Herts) which is about 20 miles north of London. I remember saying to myself at WGC that I could do a better job, so hey I thought I’d give it a shot.

I’m looking at arranging the tournament for Saturday 26th May. From around 14:00 - 19:00.

Pros
The room itself is much larger than the London casuals room with plenty of seating available.
I will provide a 1 x 40" LCD, 2 x 24” monitor, Xbox 360 and speakers.
We will have internet access if we need patches, DLC etc. We may even be able to stream if people have any experience of setting this up.
It’s on the High St so very close to shops, food, pubs etc.
It will only cost £10 entry which will go towards venue hire, possibly a small prize fund if enough people attend.
If you’re driving its 5 mins from Junction 8 of the A1(M)
If you arrive at Stevenage by train it’s walkable in around 25 minutes. Buses are also available directly to the venue. There is also a taxi rank at the train station. It would be around £5 I’d imagine.

We would need to supply our own monitors, consoles and games. I may be able to provide 2 setups. I would suggest ‘Free entry’ to anyone supplying a full setup, i.e. monitor, console and game. I’d want either 3 or 4 setups. Realistically we need 16 players or more to attend to make it worthwhile. I’d hope most of the guys below would be up for it.

At this stage I just want to gage some interest before committing to booking anything. Let me know if I’ve missed any regulars or you think anyone else would be interested.

I would definitely be interested in a UK tournament, it really sucks having literally nobody to practice with locally. I'm pretty new to the MK scene so I don't know any big UK names for MK9, but it would be amazing to have a tournament.

you guys are lucky I'm not there.....so lucky. If it was done in mid/late May then I may be able to attend but deffo not April nor early May. Anyways this is really good. If I was there I would definitely be down for this. Nice idea BenGmanUk!

Well it may be mid/late May. I want to maximise the number of players able to attend. I just want to avoid June as people will probably start going on holiday. :)

Awesome idea, as long as its not in June, I'm down. I could prolly supply a monitor at the very least.

I could supply a console and game no problem too. I dont mind lugging it around with me. :p

I'll probably bring some extra money for money matches or to put in the pot too.

I can bring a ps3 and the game easily, not sure if i can get a tv though which is annoying.

Great well if Flagg and OmegaK hook up then we have another setup already. Just realised you can buy a 360 VGA cable to hook up a 360 to a PC monitor so I may be able to supply two monitors. Just need to figure out outputting the sound.

Thanks Smokey that's cool. Not sure how we'd stand having PS3s and 360s though. It may cause an issue if we reach a final and the PS3 player doesn't have a 360 converter/controller though. We're probably better sticking to one format. I know at least 2 of us have the Etokki 360 to PS2 converters.

I might be up for this. Not really rolling in monies atm but I'll keep it in mind and see closer to the time when you have a definitive date.
