It's playable in most matches if you have a solid, wired connection. Region lock helps if you are in the US. But expect issues, as is expected with fighting games online...except KI.
What makes you think it can get better?
Literally the only thing that can happen is more wi-fi warriors getting frustrated and quitting than people with proper connection. Which I feel is the opposite of what would actually happen.
