After watching vids of the 3DS edition of SSFIV... I began to realize that a portable vesion of MK9 would be as good as anything. I had (and still have) kicks of fun with UMK DS walking in my house playing, and from time to time I spin MK Unchained on PSP.

I want a portable MK9 with Wi Fi battles. If not, well..... MK HD Remake for 3DS would fill the gap too! =)

Who is with me?

:D

SSFIV 3DS Edition:

Didn't Midway (sorry I can't stop calling them that) do an interview where they stated they had a PSP2 prototype? I'm sure something's in the works.

Im honestly not sure there will ever be a PSP2. The PSP1 died a horrible death for 2 reasons
1. Sony doesnt have the 3rd party game developers for it that Nintendo has for the DS.
2. What games they did get made for it were usually up on the hack sites before the game even launched.

Theres no money in consoles. Companies like Sony and Microsoft actually take a loss on the consoles. Where they make there money is in game sales and licensing. If people are just stealing the games(And Im just as guilty as anyone else. Ive stolen massive amounts of PSP games) then nobody is making any money.

Nintendo has dominated the handheld market since there was a handheld market. They will always own it. Which kind of sucks because if MK9 were to be made on a handheld only a system like the PSP could do it justice. DS, even 3DS will be so stripped down it will be terrible.

Have you seen the SF4 they are doing on the 3DS? I'm sure they could do a decent port of MK9 too

While you are dead on with your belief that Nintendo rules the handheld market with a clinched iron fist...PSP is far from a failure. While I have never been motivated to actually go out and purchase one due to a lack of games that draw interest from me, PSP has sold something in the neighborhood of 65 million units worldwide. That's more than both the 360 and PS3 have sold worldwide (not a completely honest comparison...but still). From what little I have heard, there is a massive install base of PSP users in Japan and parts of Europe...strongholds of Sony this generation. That's not too shabby for a first foray into choppy waters for Sony. PSP2 is inevitable .

Anyways, on topic. I, for one, would love a 3DS/PSP2 port of MK9 if it was a competent rendition such as Ultimate Mortal Kombat on the DS or Tekken 6 on PSP. The 3DS edition of SF4 looks great...no reason Boon and Co. can't spin similar magic with our favorite franchise/

Isn't the going rumour that Sony are looking at developing a PsP2 but not in the same form as previously? The rumour says that Sony are making a PsP mobile phone. Sony have made pretty good mobile phones in the past, would make sense if they feel the need to merge a mobile phone and the psp to compete with apple or the top androids.

Dont get me wrong, I have mad love for the PSP. From a technical point of view its the best handheld ever. But the amount of PSP units sold is meaningless. As Scheiss and I said, Sony doesnt make any money on the unit itself. The money comes from game sales and licensing, and that is where the PSP fails. And its where all competitors that have gone up against Nintendo since the Gameboys inception has failed.
Nearly every unit that tried to compete against the Gameboy, going all the way back to the Sega Gamegear has been technically superior to whatever verison of Gameboy it was going up against and all have failed for the same reason. Nintendo has the games and the developers. I would love to see a PSP2 but unless Sony switches it up and tries something different, the same thing will happen to it that has happened to all others that have gone up against Nintendo.
