Official Southeast NEC travel thread

So here is the deal. I am going to NEC, and I am hoping to get a bunch of GA and FL players to come with me.

I have looked into renting a minivan and a 12 passenger van. The plan is to leave from ATL.

Leaving: Thursday December 1st Departing time: TBD

Returning: Monday December 5th Departing time: TBD

The minvan will hold 6 people comfortably (7 max) and the cost is $382.86 which runs $63.81 per person for 6 people.

The passenger van should hold 10 comfortable with 12 max. The cost is $629.xx which runs $62.90 per person for 10 people.

Final costs will be determined based on the number of people that are riding in the vehicle.

EDIT: To simplify things please expect to pay $85 for the rental fee and gas.

My thoughts are non ATL players can drive to ATL to meet up with the group living in town. We all drive in 1 vehicle to NEC. Perhaps even get a power converter to play some MK in the back while we are on the road.

I think this goes without being said but absolutely no firearms, illegal drugs or anything else illegal is to be taken with you. Violators will be subject to FATALITY. We will already be a target for being pulled over with a full van with people playing videos games in the back.

So the question I put out to the community is who is 100% going to go, and do they want to be a part of the pool?

Those are the prices for renting the vehicle. Gas money is not included but that would also be split up. I am not as concerned with the gas portion of the costs at least right now, but have some money in your budget for gas.

This would be awesome... Considering it would provide me with a way to actually go to NEC. I'd just like to factor in the cost of gas, food, and if we're staying at a Hotel. I'd also have to get permission from my parents, but it should be ok.

Yea 6 people goes it looks like 65$ per person for the van rental and 20-25$ each for gas

I don't think getting 6 people will be a problem I think in the end we might take 2 busses each w 6.

I'd like us to get a van/bus w power so we can play MK9 the whole way up there learning, practicing and everyone knows that'll e the fastest 10-12 trip ever

Theres talk that a couple of people can stay at "A particular MK player's house" dont want to post his name publicly cause everyone will try to hit him up.

If not there then no question ill get a hotel room and it'll work like this.

I get a bed (period), there will be one more bed as well as floor which if anyone wants to sleep using a sleeping bag i will only charge at most half what a person pays for the bed.

Ill have a setup in there obviously and will be playing MK all freaking day and anyone is welcome to stop by.

Just curious if you guys have looked into traveling by train? From Jacksonville, FL a round trip coach ticket is $125 per person. They do have rooms available on the train that would run a little over $400 per person for round trip but if you have a large group going then one person could get the room and the rest just get the coach tickets and split the difference in price for the one that books the room and I am pretty sure that you could set up a station to practice on during the trip. From Jacksonville it is about a 16 hour train ride and about a 13 hour drive. Just a thought guys.

I actually just double checked the prices for taking a train and it is $250 round trip. $125 each way. Looks like I will be flying instead.
