You will have to use the default on the stick. Everything is default.

Since this tournament cuts huge portion of the high level MK players by making it stick only, has extremely stupid rule (default configuration when the game clearly has an option to set up buttons), why don't you guys make it 100% miserable for every one by throwing in a mandatory random select????? Gimme a break...Good luck to all players.

AC: The game plays with the same button layout as the last few MK games, I understand your concern, but they are not rules we made. We are just the messengers about the tournament. This has already been clearly stated on a few other threads before.

I do have to say for something like changing the buttons...some of the OG characters (like Liu Kang) already have their moves placed on the initial plains from older games, so even though Liu Kang button 2 is a punch, the button is used for a Flying Kick. Same goes with Low Fireballs...button 3 is used as a Kick, but the button is used still as a low fireball like the old games...changing that doesn't make any sense to me, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I just don't see why anyone would change the button layout unless they use a 6 button stick or something...but again, I do think you "should" be allowed to, but not our rules.

I mean, it's like beating a dead horse, GameStop rules were the same for SF and we had to live with it and that's what I did...I don't know if changing the rules would make 1,000 more players show up, GameStop SF4 was the biggest tournament in the country for fighting games with people stuck using their 360 pad...

Dude I completely understand what you're saying and give you tons of credit for organizing the event ...(super hyped MK tournament, which is the first one probably since the 90's) And you're right about me being a dick about the layout. I will never play MK with SF type of layout...I'll always keep Punches on the left and kicks on the right. What really bothers me is the fact that the Button configure option IS RIGHT THERE and it wont hurt anyone...Its not like plugging or unplugging a controller or something like that...It just looks like a bureaucracy to me, that's it....I would agree with it if someone clearly explains to me why configure is not permitted using reasonable supporting facts of course. No offense to the event planner, their job is to promote the event and they are doing it.

Maybe you can change buttons, let me find out, but it's not SF layout, it's Tekken layout....it would need to be 6 to be SF....

the problem is the old layout is archaic and only good for older MK games...it's almost like trying to play Neo Geo games on ABCD instead of AC
BD

But I'll see what they say about it

the gamestop tourney was WAAAAY different. gamestop travel cost per player is $0 for the first rounds and VERY little for the later ones. PDP travel cost: as high as $500 or MORE. gamestop entry fee: $0. PDP entry fee: $35.

different... not even close actually lol...

Yeah, you are right, they gave away stuff sponsored by Capcom to the top 16 (sticks) and top 500 or so (pads). They gave away 0 cash. I ended up with the Vewlix cabinet which sure isn't worth $15,000 like they claimed. Second sure didn't end up with that, so I think PDP putting up $21,000 in cash and another $35,000 for venue and stream and setup and all that gives them the ability to call the shots on the tournament. They are paying out a ton of money on this thing and setup is even more. The exposure is the best hope, but GameStop didn't give away cash....$35 is nothing compared to what other tourneys charge just in COVER, LOL...

Top 16 got plane tickets to Cali. Similarities are instead of stick users upset they can't play, pad users are upset now. I mean it's beating a dead horse Tom/Bill, we all know where this is going to end up but the similarities are there and I'll even magnify it even more...

The top SF players even back in the day just played and didn't complain and did what they had to do for a tourney's rules.

PS3 SSF4 has 2 frame input delay and is NOT arcade perfect (I lolled at that heavily in the last thread) and people know if you enter the tournament with a PS3, get used to it, no excuses.

SF4 GameStop. Stuck on pad? Get used to it, no excuses...

MK9 stick only? Same thing, everyone knows beforehand...I mean Justin, Floe, Sabin, etc they are all entering this tournament and they aren't complaining about the stick rule, they just know they have to get used to it....I don't see the problem, their tournament, their rules. I know I said it before, I'll say it again. I am a terrible SF pad player. When I knew the GameStop rules were THEIR pad only default configuration I played on the pad only for WEEKS. Result? Top 16 in the tournament. Floe? Same. Jason Cole? Same. Mike Ross? Same. Justin Wong? Obviously we know the result there, just have to deal with the cards you are dealt.

I do have to say I know Vegas costs $400 in tickets, hotel for some people, etc. Others can just drive there (Cali/Vegas/Arizona) much cheaper, but even with GameStop, I had to take 4 days off work (costing me $85 to pay someone each day) and I had to drive 10 miles, 70 miles, 420 miles, and get stuck in an airport for 18 hours respectively for this GameStop "pad" tournament, so that ends up costing me $340 in pay to someone else and $80 in gas....oh well, at least I got a stick, a pad, and bought a Vewlix out of it, some cheap tourney, LOLOLOLOL

Anyways, sorry for the tangent, this isn't going to change, so can we PLEASE for once keep this on topic with specifics at the tournament? I am finding out about button configuration for the tournament, but anyone that puts THAT much money into a tournament and at least rules are FINALLY known on most of the stuff, I don't see the issue with having to play on the stick and getting used to it for ONE tournament for this much money....

All right everyone, before this gets out of hand. Lets not have this thread beat the same horse to death that we killed in the last thread. That horse has had enough.
Tom, your not gonna win this one bro. It is was it is and no amount of stamping your feet is going to get PDP to change anything this late in the game. Live to fight another day my man, and pick a fight you can actually win next time.

DreamTR, Stop responding to it, your only egging him on and Bill doesnt always know when to let someting go.

Everyone else, if this thread becomes another bitchfest about the controller rules Il delete every post in here except the first one and make you all start all over. The rules are set, it is what it is, nothing can be done about it. So deal.

im fine with the situation and TOTALLY understand where DreamTR is coming from. you just have to deal w/the rules here and move on. i was just saying that at the very least the gamestop tourneys let the less the hardcore but semi serious compete in their sf tourney without them having to spend money so it was more understandable having to play by their custom rules.

i think DreamTR is doing the ABSOLUTE best he can in this situation because for the most part his hands are tied. the reason why i dont post about the pdp tourney anymore is because now i do agree with jason here and just say the pdp event is what it is and move on. MK9 is new and there are plenty of events out there for it.

Ok, I found out about button configuration and YES you can change your button configuration on the joystick in the tournament.

Ok, did you guys see this vid? Some former tournament players just giving their views on tips, how the game will be etc.

You guys want to see Sebastian/one handed terror play? Pretty amazing.

I am not a big fan of the stick, but you just have to deal with it. PDP is throwing out $21,000 for the community. I believe the best we can do is support their products. They are trying here. =p
