The best mediocre Batman
Batman returns for Injustice 2 and has a mix of new and old combos. This thread will contain everything you need to know on how to get damage with the Dark Knight. If you have a practical combo that isn't listed, feel free to post it below and it will be added*.

For newer players, here are the notations based on default controller setup:

1 = Light, (Square for PS4, X for Xbox 1)
2 = Medium (Triangle for PS4, Y for Xbox 1)
3 = Heavy (X for PS4, A for Xbox 1)
4 = Trait (Circle for PS4, B for Xbox 1)**
MB = Meterburn (R2 for PS4, RT for Xbox1)
Int = Interactable (R1 for PS4, Rb for Xbox1)
Ji = Jump in
NJ = Neutral jump
Jb = Jump back
D1, D2, D3 = Crouching 1, Crouching 2, Crouching 3
F1, F2, F3 = Forward 1, Forward 2, Forward 3
B1, B2, B3 = Back 1, Back 2, Back 3

Due to the different health/defense stats for each character, damage amounts will be determined using competitive mode and Superman as the training dummy.

* NO GEAR SPECIFIC COMBOS
** Because Batman's trait can have 3 different levels and be used to cancel mid combo, various other notations will be used whenever trait is involved

A quick summary of Batman's best combo starters:

1 - 7 frame high, best used for punished, leads into meterless launchers (123, 113 in the corner) and leads into hit-confirmable string (112)

B1 - 9 frame low, decent stagger ability, stubby range, leads into meterless launcher (B113) or safe ender (B112), usually seen during MB Batarang pressure or after B2 Trait Cancel

B2 - 12 frame mid, leads into B23 which is OH and keeps Batman relatively safe, can lead to full combo with trait active or MB Straight grapple in the corner

F3 - Slow OH, plus on block, decent footsie tool when MB, can cross up crouching opponents

J2 - Great jump in that crosses up easily, very hard to anti-air, can lead to meterless launchers (123, 223) or into hit-confirmable pressure (112)

DF1 MB (Straight grapple) - Ok anti-zoning tool, can be used to confirm off full screen Trait, careful to not waste meter if opponent's projectile will interrupt your forward progress (ex. MB Dr. Fate Orb)

DB2 (Up batarang) - Good anti-air projectile, must be done on a read, relatively safe on whiff, can be hit-confirmed with Trait or MB projectile, can be followed up with variety of options depending on spacing (B3, DF1, Ji2, dash forward)

Here's some simple stuff I've been using very early on:

J2, 123, J2, 123, B+2 3

J2, 223, B3, J2, B23

J2, 223, J2, 22, MBstraight grapple, B3, J2, B23

One thing I've noticed is that the timing of moves are different from INJ2. The B3 connecting from 223 is possible, but the window is tight. Sorry for the format. I'll update this post with other combos I get going.

Been busy with other stuff, will post all updates later today. However, his combos appear to be virtually identical to Inj1, with less options from B113 and 113 midscreen.

In addition to the ones already posted, I really like using these 2 as basic 1 bar midscreen combos:

Ji2, 123, 3, DF1 MB, B3, Ji2, B23

Ji2, 123, 3, DF1 MB, B3, Ji3, B23

The same combo, but using the Ji3 on the second combo adds just a little extra damage.

UPDATED: 5/21/17 (super tired and formatting is bad. Adding more with notes later).

I'm organizing all my combos by starting strings, meterless and metered. Also note that any of these combos can be started with a J2.

In general, B23 and F23 are great enders. B23 tends to do more damage, but F23 leaves you closer to the opponent. Interchange these enders depending on the matchup.

123 Starter Meterless:

123, B3, mb Straight Grapple, B3, J3, B23

223 Starter Meterless:

223, B3, J3, B23

Just a thought on posting the damage amounts, would it make sense to use the damage amounts for combos based on what the tournament settings for practice mode show as that might give the best baseline?

this equals like 70 percent one bar

Pretty sure he meant b11 trait cancel. B3 cannot be cancelled into anything.

Also, thanks so much to everyone for providing so much content! I haven't been able to update the OP, but this weekend I plan on sitting down and compiling everything.
