NRS art director Steve Beran confirmed Johnny Cage is 100% in MK11

An Interview with NRS art director Steve Beran. Just read the last lines of the interview:

So that was kind of the seed of it and our story writers, Dominic and Shaun just started bringing up the idea and Ed and I and our team got excited about it like ‘Hey, what if past Scorpion met up current Scorpion?’ You know in Mortal Kombat X, Scorpion became more mature and he realized that he was deceived in the past so you have the idea of a more laid back Scorpion meeting up with crazy specter Scorpion. And that goes along for other characters, not just Scorpion.

Like Johnny Cage, that’d be a great one to see.

''You get the idea, Johnny Cage is a great example of that where yeah he’s fifty-something now, and you know, matching him up with twenty-year-old douchebag Johnny is gonna be interesting.''

That sets us at 21 known characters. So we have 4 characters left (5 if Shao Kahn isn't considered base roster and assuming 25 is the set roster size and they aren't gonna surprise us with more slots.)

I honestly don't think *CET*, *TER*, or *KOL* are new characters. I really feel like they're placeholders for Shang, Rain and someone else. At least I hope so. We need a sorcerer in this game if Quan Chi's out!

Sure, in the same way that Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Kitana, and Cassie weren't "technically" confirmed. It's still a fact that they're all playable.

Keep in mind that there's a possibility of him being just a secondary character in Story Mode, being as much playable as Li Mei, Rain and Sareena were in MKX.

Obviously I want him to be playable, tho.

MK9 JC and LK were as fun as they came to play, too bad they changed them up so drastically in MKX. Fingers crossed for their gameplay comeback in MK11!

MK9 JC and LK were as fun as they came to play, too bad they changed them up so drastically in MKX. Fingers crossed for their gameplay comeback in MK11!

A-List was one of the most, if not the most, fun variations for me to play in MKX. I still prefer MK9's cage though, waay more fun to play with his moves overall.

The point is CURRENT older Johnny (the one with an ex-wife and a daughter) isn't nearly as much of a douche as he was in MK9 when he was being super weird towards Sonya every chance he got. (It made me uncomfortable, to say the least.)

He's matured quite a bit from one game to the other. I'm excited to see how that interaction would go. That's just something that excites me about all the characters meeting their younger selves. Looking at Sonya's 'classic' skin in MK11 gets me hype to see that in story and to hopefully see current Sonya interacting with her younger self and so on. It's just such a dope dynamic man and I have full faith that NRS will put so many awesome moments in there.
