Psssst, prospect thread. Do this in all caps in our main public thread. #kthxbai

OBS|KH Rattlehead

Accessibility consultant for Mortal Kombat 1.
Been meaning to do this for a while now, but so many things have been going on. However, I have some down time, so here we go.

What fighting games are you currently playing? I’m currently playing Injustice and MK9.
Have you ever played in tournaments for MK9 or Injustice? Do you plan to? Yes. My first tournament was at Evo2013 in Mortal Kombat 9and Injustice. Since then, I’ve been attending local Injustice tournaments. Also, I’m planning to attend Texas Showdown and Evo2014 this year.
What are your goals as a competitive fighting game player? And what seems appealing to you about being part of NRF? My goal is to simply improve as an overall fighting game player and to do better at tournaments. As far as being part of NRF, I was referred by @NRF Everlast who explained that this clan is really down to earth and is willing to help you and play sets with you in order to improve. Played with a few NRF guys along with Everlast, and I can confirm it to be true. I find this very appealing.
Can you take constructive criticism? We all see different things at different times, and the more eyes we have one one another's game, the more we are all able to help one another. Yes I absolutely can. I participated in major competitions as a drummer and I was guided by an amazing drum instructor who pointed out every mistake I made in my performances. So I certainly welcome constructive criticism.
Give us an example of a time when you've been rage quit on or received hatemail. What was your response? What did you do? When a rage quit happens, usually I just let it go and move on to the next person who wants to play.
What is your internet connection like? Are you wired or wireless? Preference will STRONGLY be given to prospects who are wired and have a good connection. Please post a pic of your speedtest.net results if possible. I’m currently wireless right now, but I’m waiting on my Ethernet cable to arrive in the mail soon to go wired because my router is in a different room where my console is located.
What's the most important thing you hope to gain by joining NRF? Obviously to level up in fgs, but also to interact with fellow fg players in general to establish new friendships.
What's your biggest strength that you bring to the table? What's an area of weakness that your working towards improving? My ability to adapt and to learn things easily I consider to be my strength. My weekness would be getting nervous when playing with others. I did this on my own for so long, that I’m still getting used to playing with other players, especially who are better than me.

What fighting games are you currently playing?
Currently, I play Injustice. I have played MK9 and SSFIV AE but I'm not as proficient in those games as I am in Injustice

Have you ever played in tournaments for MK9 or Injustice? Do you plan to?
Only one Regional Tournament the week after Injustice came out. However, the Injustice local scene has died down out here [Little Rock, AR]

What are your goals as a competitive fighting game player? And what seems appealing to you about being part of NRF?
I want to level up and become a Major Tournament Level player. I want to be a player that can adapt to any matchup with my style of play.
When I was on TYM 3 weeks ago, I actually saw this thread and thought it would be pretty cool to be apart of a an online team that fosters good sportsmanship and encourages leveling up of all members. Then I was told of the qualification process through NRF Rude.

Can you take constructive criticism? We all see different things at different times, and the more eyes we have one one another's game, the more we are all able to help one another.
Abso-freaking-lutely!! My career field is one that fosters positive communication for the Air Force [Equality Opportunity] and one of the key things we learn about ourselves is being able to give and TAKE feedback from everybody free from rationalizations or getting in defense mode. Since this is a game I want to level up in, I'm willing to take constructive criticism from anyone about anything related to the game.

Give us an example of a time when you've been rage quit on or received hatemail. What was your response? What did you do?
I never initiate hatemail but I have responded to it. But that was me about 3 weeks ago. Nowadays I say or send everybody a GG message even if they troll. The last time I "rage quit" was during a Ranked match against the No. 1 (record wise) PS3 Injustice fighter named LEGEND FIGHTERS. I was playing as Bane and he counter picked me with his Deathstroke. I gained an early lead with some venom based moves (I took about 45% damage while he only took 15%) So when he decided to go full screen and began the High/Low Guns shots. As a Bane Player, I should have been more patient trying to move in, but right then and there I decided I didn't want to deal with his zoning (I try not to call it spamming anymore). Regardless of what its called, I just decided to quit because I didn't want to be patient. At the time I wanted to see more skill from a top player, but then I realized I only cheated myself. I regretted the decision and decided that I wanted to learn matchups which lead to a thread I made on TYM in which NRF Rude found out about me.

What is your internet connection like? Are you wired or wireless? Preference will STRONGLY be given to prospects who are wired and have a good connection. Please post a pic of your speedtest.net results if possible.
I'm wireless right now and I'm trying to go wired but haven't figured out how. For some reason, the Ethernet won't pick up on my PS3. My wireless connection is pretty good though. Sometimes during and after rainstorms, it could get some significant lag.

What's the most important thing you hope to gain by joining NRF?
More experience with characters at a higher level play. Also, I really love playing Injustice so to build camarederie around that is a great thing for me as well. I recently played a king of the hill with several members and I enjoyed and learned from it.

What's your biggest strength that you bring to the table? What's an area of weakness that your working towards improving?
I'm kind of new to fighting games (started effectively playing MK9 in late 2013) so quite honestly I think I may gain more experience than bringing something to the table. However, that doesn't mean I'll won't give what I may be able to offer. I main Wonder Woman, so I may be able to help with the advancement of her and the mindset behind a Wonder Woman player. I also may help out with the Raven and Bane matchups as they are my alternates.
I would have to say my weakness is getting tense with my hands as I play the game (especially in close matches) which may cause me to whiff or drop combos. I find that I need to calm down during gameplay so I can think straight and still effectively compete. I think more experience with certain matchups only will help me in my confidence. Basically the more confident I am, the more relaxed I will be.

I am currently playing Injustice, SF4 all versions, and MK9.
I have only been to one major, and that was summer jam of 2012. I have been to a crap ton of locals in Cleveland. I plan on going to a lot of majors in the future.
My goal is to have fun and improve. That is basically it. I am not about money, I am about competition. I want to learn match ups and make new friends, online and offline. What brought me to NRF was actually an online king of the hill where I met NRF_XFRICTION and NRF_EVERLAST. They were really laid back and cool to me, and that’s the kind of people I would like to be around. To be the best you have to play with the best.
PLEASE I BEG YOU criticize me. I can lose 40 times in a row and I will still try to beat you. I want to improve and the only way to do so is to get my ass whooped and learn from my mistakes.
Back when SF4 first came out I use to send messages back to people who have hatemailed me. Now most of the friends on my friends list are people who originally sent me hate mail. Now I send friend request and ask them to improve with me. I have a lot of good friends online that first hated losing to me lol.
I have a wired connection. I have had no complaints. I’ll post the picture when I can.
New friends, improvement in my game, and competition.
My biggest strength is an unfamiliar matchup. My weakness is my character…Shazam..

I read the OP it's the questions under that spoiler tab right?

EDIT:

What fighting games are you currently playing?
IGAU, SSFIV, and MK9

Have you ever played in tournaments for MK9 or Injustice? Do you plan to?
No, but I have aspirations to do so and possibly place well.

What are your goals as a competitive fighting game player? And what seems appealing to you about being part of NRF?
To show the FGC or NRS community that all characters are viable regardless of politics or tier list position. I play whom I enjoy and seek to prove my own worth as a player. By joining NRF (and playing consistently with the team) I hope to master my characters tools and my overall skills and become a respected player on a competitive level.

Can you take constructive criticism? We all see different things at different times, and the more eyes we have one one another's game, the more we are all able to help one another.
Absolutely, I have no qualms about it whatsoever.

Give us an example of a time when you've been rage quit on or received hatemail. What was your response? What did you do?
Last night a Scorpion player quit on me just before I defeated him. I didn't care I just kept playing randoms, if he's salty thats his problem.

What is your internet connection like? Are you wired or wireless? Preference will STRONGLY be given to prospects who are wired and have a good connection. Please post a pic of your speedtest.net results if possible.
My connection is ok, unfortunately it's wireless which I know you guys don't like.

What's the most important thing you hope to gain by joining NRF?
Overall if competition isn't an option for me I hope to at least become as good a player as competitive players. I truly love the FGC and want to be as good as the more seasoned veterans among us.

What's your biggest strength that you bring to the table? What's an area of weakness that your working towards improving?
As far as the game is concerned I'm not the best player. I have a ton of leveling up to do, frame data to memorize, and things to learn in general. My biggest strength is being dependable I'm a man of my word. If I say I'll do something, I'll do it.
