Presented by the PowerUp Committee, KO//CON is a celebration of fighting game competition and culture set to arrive at Arcade Legacy the weekend of November 3 & 4!

KO//CON aims to bring a fresh experience to the table for our guests:

We welcome brand new players and encourage them to participate in our FREE ENTRY TOURNAMENTS. (Paid entry tournaments will also be run.)

We want to partner with ARTISTS & VENDORS both local and regional. Artists will be able to compete in our ART CONTEST and vie for inclusion into the KO//CON 2012 Artbook.

New players sometimes feel lost in the sea of information that is available for comprehending a fighting game. KO//CON will host GAMEPLAY WORKSHOPS for a select variety of games to help new and/or curious players get off on the right foot!

Pre-registration ensures that you are seeded away from others in your city, and that you do not have overlapping pools.*

After online pre-registration has ended pools will be created for every game and we will leave space for additional players. PAYOUT & BONUS

FINAL SCHEDULE
The KO//CON final schedule will be released to the public once pre-registration closes at 12:00am on October 29, 2012.

I encourage all KO//CON participants to print a copy of the schedule for their use at the event. A compressed version of the schedule will be printed on the back of all event badges.

*Report to your pool assignment 15 minutes before its posted start time for check-in.
*If you fail to check-in we will not wait for you and you risk disqualification.
*Disqualification will not entitle you to a refund of your tournament entry fee.
*These rules also apply to semifinals and finals.

POOL ASSIGNMENTS
Click here to view the KO//CON Master Pool Assignments document once it is completed after Monday, October 29, 2012.

Don't forget that when you register online for KO//CON you will also receive an email with a personalized pool schedule that you should print and bring with you to the event. The personalized pool schedules will be sent to all online registrants after online registration closes.

QUALIFICATION SYSTEM
The KO//CON Qualification System for pool play will be announced after online pre-registration closes. Rest assured, however, that KO//CON will offer a smooth tournament experience with as little downtime between pools and finals. Each qualifying player will be designated an unmovable spot on the semifinals and finals bracket based upon where they qualify. If a tournament receives few enough entries to forgo the use of pools, then an ordinary bracket structure will be used.

NB Semi Evil Ryu

Former Sub-Zero of the Midwest (2011 - 2015)
But Osirun, I meant to ask you this in the SRK thread: Will there still be any sort of prize for MK 9 since this is free entry?

NB Semi Evil Ryu

Former Sub-Zero of the Midwest (2011 - 2015)
I'm willing to pay money for the MK9 tournament.

Can we get an address for the venue?
Cincinnati Mall
600 Cincinnati Mills Drive
Cincinnati, Ohio, 45240

I'm assuming that this will be in the same room where PowerUp was held, earlier this year. Which, if you weren't there, is a HUGE ASS ROOM!

If it were decided later on to add a $10 entry fee towards an MK 9 pot, I would not complain and would still make the trip without a second thought.

Thanks for the feedback! I love the TYM community : )

To answer some questions and whatnot:

1) MLG Dallas is a big event, and all we're doing for MK9 officially is running a 32-man, single elimination, Free Entry Tournament. Because the game is very, very dead here in the Dayton/Cincy area, I would like to get some interest by allowing players to compete for free. So we weren't trying to compete with MLG at all XD

And you can't help but hit scheduling conflicts with someone nowadays! lol

2) All Free Entry Tournaments will have a 1st Place prize of: (1) Limited Edition KO//CON 2012 Poster & (1) Voucher Code for an Event Pass at PowerUp 2013

3) I have no problem with people running a second MK9 event with $10 entry on the side. In fact I recommend it.

4) KO//CON 2012 is not in the big space we had for PU2012. It will be out in the mall's center court, but we're planning to do it up right and make it nice for everyone : )

Again, love the TYM community; you guys rock and I hope to see a lot of you at KO//CON.

Don't forget that online registration is live!

I'm hoping that MK_LEGEND will make it out. He still plays online since there's no local scene, and he's still pretty good. He might take that poster away from ya! ; )
