No Rounds...Gain early life lead to win?

The way I think meter will work judging by the system is that you gain more meter if you are getting hit alot. If it is like this that means by the time you are on your second bar(this is when you get 1 clash oppurtunity) you'll most likely have more meter for clash than your opponent does. This will be the little added "maybe" comeback mechanic but not really because it's not even assured if you spent meter already or have the same as your opponent. No true comeback factor + this lifebar system means that the better player will be more likely to win more often which is just a serious dream come true for the competitive community who actually wants to win.
If that's true... wouldn't that mean less and less upsets? Upsets in tournaments are the most hype moments imo.

That sounds less hype that the big name player will more than likely always win.

Yea, I have to agree with IceNine here.

Seeing a top player completely outsmart and outplay his opponent but then they get their comeback move and basically even the lifebars just because of one good guess.... is not nearly as rewarding as a true grinded comeback.

Upsets will still happen regardless though, it's the nature of fighting games.

I'm pretty friggen excited regardless, I can't wait till this game comes out.

My roommate and I have already decided that there will be numerous Superman vs Aquaman battles.

Because we don't have a demo?

Dafuq?
Because its a month before the game and they're still changing alot of variables of the game in my opinion. I mean we just saw any form of armor in the 3rd week of the Battle arena and things like clash system are being heavily tweaked. Theres rumors of push block, but we haven't seen any evidence of that either. So many things still being tweaked and so much else in development if they don't have a demo to get feed back on yet then I don't think things will be ready by April.

It's pretty simple; they haven't shown it. Clash is probably already finished with tweaking(as it was shown in BA). They aren't even blocking, because the arenas are a combo/stage exhibition.

A demo would be an old build and would only slow down any work they're still doing on the actual game at this point.

I get that they aren't blocking because it's supposed to be a showcase and all, but the fact that 'they don't have time to do a demo because it would slow them down' to me spells that this game is going to ship with major bugs.

What? It's a fact, not an excuse.

It takes up resources, they can't just throw a demo together while their tea's heating up. Every game ships with bugs BTW, especially fighters. It's just a matter of when people find them.

Demos released are old builds of a game so any "bugs" in a demo more than likely have already been addressed, not to mention that even if they release one a month before the game is supposed to be released it still needs to go "gold" and ready to be shipped weeks before the actual release date so a bunch of people finding useless bugs in a useless old build and you pushing your game back to address bugs already addressed makes no sense. Any big bugs they MAY have missed can be rectified by patch, post release. Why push your game back weeks or months when you've done all this campaigning and marketing for a game that releases on "April 16th, 2013", meaning you've wasted a ton of money and time for nothing instead of just addressing it when the game is out?

I'd just rather see a working demo with bugs and wait for the game a bit , then have the game without as many bugs. All the patching in the early stages of MK really killed its reputation in the FGC early on (not saying that it's rep is totally bad, as it is # 3 in ratings.)

When they talked about tweaking the clash system, that was like 6 months ago, we already know what they tweaked it to.

Pushblock is not a rumor, they straight up said it was in the game, and it costs 1 bar of meter to do.

Sounds like you just really want the game to be successful and accepted in the FGC. I seriously wouldn't worry too much about it though. All fighting games that have come out in the last few years have shipped with bugs except probably KOF13 but that had some serious balancing issues on console release.

Judging by what we have seen so far, the game looks like it would be literally impossible to not be liked by the majority of well known players. At this point a player of 2D fighting games would literally have to hold a grudge against NRS, hate the animations, or just hate canned-string combos to not give this game a shot. It looks like to has so much depth as a fighter and its using recognizable characters. It also doesn't have MK9's two biggest issues that prevented many top players from even looking at it(random frame data on some moves and random priority on some attacks because there are no real trades).

Something drastic would have to happen for this game not to blow up huge.
