When I saw her there, my reaction wasn't to disparage - but to find out why.

You have a panel of professional players, some of the world's best, putting together a tier list. Its worth considering.

I will ask the best Sonya players I know before coming to a conclusion, but I would be a fool to not consider the reasoning behind a tier list put together by YOMI.

You would be more of a fool to listen to it. Its not all the best players who decide half of it. What your referring to is mainly mit not doing very well with sonya and thinking she isnt actually that good.

Well, MIT is one of the best there is - so if he did the work and is still having trouble - then there are aspects of the character worth looking at that may be getting overlooked.

These tier lists are constantly evolving as everyone becomes more entrenched in the game - subsequently understanding the matchups better. The guys that play the most and know best how to speed the process are guys like MIT - so when he or they speak on the game - especially to give us new information or go out on a limb to put out a tier list - I am going to listen and think on what they said.

please explain what your opinion of doing very well is, since mit's getting into top 8's and top 3's consistently. You sound ridiculous saying one of the best players of the game doesnt know what hes talking about, how can you possibly consider yourself a credible source compared to him or any person in yomi for that matter.

Maybe Sonya simply doesn't fit MIT's playstyle, which lends him towards an underestimation of the character?

Being good does not equal being omnicient. Obviously, the immense skill and diversity available to YOMI places them in a uniquely qualified position to develop a tier list worth sharing, but no matter how good they are or how many qualified members chime in, there will always be innacuracies, and that is perfectly fine. I would rather live in a TYM where guys like YOMI share their tier lists with us than one where they do not.

It's fair enough to disagree with something, I can guarantee you almost all of us here know something about some character or variation that YOMI does not, and threads like these are a good place to share those items.

I dunno, I suppose what I'm trying to say is that while the community shouldn't be all like "err my gawd, yomi has Earmac in the bottom 10, tier list is garbage," it also shouldn't simply concede that anything they post is 100% accurate and never wrong just because they are good.

well i will say sonya has shit zoning, and cant really do much against a good zoner, it depends on her MU's really
she definitely is not bottom id say high mid tier

depending how you read the list, she can either be bottom 10 or top 11.

Ok smartass, tell how he gotten better since the buff? Cyber did get alittle bit better, other than that cutthroat got worst. The patch encourage Kano to burn meter he can't afford to lose. Almost everyone in mkx run circles around Kano and you're not blocking every 50/50. Enjoy your damage nerf and canclable buff. After you burn meter, you'll get bodied by pressure. But hey at least you got a combo from it.

I think there is no C tier character and that Jason is B tier. Because Jason has no winning matchups doesnt mean he doesnt go even with people! IMO he 5-5s hella people and wins against ermac and Kotal Kahn! Hes a solid character but there are just better characters. Its hard to believe that hes the worst.

I think everyone in this game is good. However Jason and Kano have no winning match ups and require more work and brains to win. Either the match up is 5-5 or its losing.

Said itonce I'll say it again. When a Top player is tryig to teach you something...listen first then ask your questikns and debate. They have more experience in a high stakes setting/training and truly labbing out MU's. Can they be wrong...hell yeah Mournful Kitana is the business but do you see me going around up-playing her. Pfffft No! The point is this is a list from player who equally have a chance to be crowned BEST in the world. It's like trying to argue with K and M about Shinnok and Quan. Or Sonic about Erron Black. You may not feel as ifthese lists are good or accurate but it gves you can idea of where their mindset is in the current meta. That alone is an advantage. You'd all hate it if they posted these privately andonly invited a select few to discuss these things. So respect the fact that they are helping the very people that could one day body them. If your a beginner tryig to lvl up amd are wondering whch characters to look out for..WOOLAY BITCHES.....you have access to that from the minds of the best. Hell if Sonic released a Tier list that ended up matching this one perfectly half you lame ass bitches would be all over his underaged dick.

This list seems good to me. I don't mind that it assumes the player is choosing whichever variation is most appropriate for the match-up. Cleans things up and highlights how viable the character is as a whole. If one variation is great against a solid chunk of the cast but the other two are ass it will bring the character down in the tier list appropriately, even if one variation is well-above the character's tier as a whole.

I do think Liu Kang should be higher due to his tools and frames, but I'm no expert. That's the only one that cocked my head when I saw it.

Also, how is Cassie not S-tier? It seems like she has it all.

Lackey Ferra/Torr: Tigrar Fury zones him out and at worst goes even with him in the footsie game. His lack of a full screen presence is a problem for this match up. Not much else I have to add at the moment, but this match up seems pretty straight forward.


Very probable ones:

Balanced Kenshi- zoning is weak with lots of whiff recovery. Goro crushes him on knockdown and pressures him really well too. Low fireballs can be used to throw off reflects and can launch with meter.

Relentless Jason- His long ranged string is punishable by command grab, better pokes, can't keep Goro out, safer etc.

I think people are way too hung up on the placements between A tier and A+ tier.

I mean, there's a reason they used S, A+, A, and B instead of S, A, B, and C. The game's balance is heavily weighted towards a large mid tier (which is really solid balance wise) with only a small amount of "stragglers" and a small amount of "daaayyuuum"

I think this makes terms like "top 10" or "top 5" or "bottom 5" all the more irrelevant instead of tiers. You can't really say "top 10" when there's very likely more than 10 characters that are good enough to feasibly be there, but can't all fit in that arbitrary number.
