Universal Conventions and Basics

Note: "System" means that this gameplay element is performed automatically by the game's system (i.e., the engine) depending on certain circumstances (i.e., where you are on the stage, what move you do, etc.).

f - forward
b - back
u - up
d - down

d/f - down-front
d/b - down-back
u/f - up-front
u/b - up-back

2D Movement: D-Pad (PS3 and X-Box 360)
3D Movement (AKA Side Step): Hold L2, press up or down on D-Pad (PS3), Hold LT, press up or down on D-Pad (X-Box 360)

1 - attack 1 (PS3 = □) (X-Box 360 = X)
2 - attack 2 (PS3 = Δ) (X-Box 360 = Y)

*a combo breaker may only be used when your rage meter (below your life bar) is half full. You will know when you acquired the ability to use a combo breaker as under your rage meter will be a small white lightening bolt

*a character cannot hold more than 2 breakers

*using a breaker drains half the rage meter

*when a character is in rage mode, his or her attacks cannot be broken

Escapes: Tap 1 or 3 as your opponent is about to throw you and you will fully escape the throw. Tap 1 or 3 after having been grabbed and you will tech-roll to reduce the throw's damage.
Special Note(s):

*when you observe the hands of a character doing a 3D throw, you will notice that his/her hands cross over. This cannot be observed with the Klose Kombat Grab

Escapes: Tap 2 or 4 as your opponent is about to grab you using the KK grab and you will fully escape the KK grab. If you were grabbed by the KK grab, your opponent can utilize either 1,2,3, or 4 to attack you. Here is how you can counter the aforementioned four attacks:

Tap 1 to counter 1
Tap 2 to counter 2
Tap 3 (or hold d) to counter 3
Tap 4 to counter 4

If you tap the right button at the right time, your character will attack your opponent and break out of the KK grab.

Special Note(s):

*a character who is doing a KK grab holds his/her arms in a straight direction. This cannot be observed with a 3D throw where a character's arms cross over

Rage Mode Properties

1. Rage Mode can only be activated when a character's rage meter is full
2. Rage Mode activation creates an unblockable yellow aura that does 5% of damage knocking your opponent away
3. Rage Mode lasts for roughly 5 seconds (until your rage meter has drained completely)
4. When in Rage Mode, your character has a "super armor" effect. You cannot be knocked down or thrown at all
5. When in Rage Mode, all of your attacks do 45%-50% more damage
6. When in Rage Mode, your attacks cannot be broken by combo breakers
7. When your opponent is blocking your dial-a-combo, the second hit of your dial-a-combo will crush your opponent's guard and become unblockable
8. If both players are in Rage Mode, the fight is completely normal (with the exception of the rule above, No. 7)
