I don't get it. If you disagree with how its run why comment at all? It's not your $60 so who cares? If this was like Evo or even a Major or even offline then I could understand but complaining about an online tourney... seems like aimless negativity to me... #nokabalsonyafreddyorkenshiequalsgoodnewsforermacamirite

it's because some a banned and others liek cyrax and kung lao are just as bad, even worst online... and cage and reptile are lag abusers. it's anti-zoning bias

Anyway joke aside, I think he should add Cyrax and Kung Lao to the banned list and then we have ourselves a decent tournament. It's supposed to be a fun little thing to get people to play the game and instead people are losing their minds because the easy mode characters (sans Kabal, as I said before. He's a special case) are banned. The aggressive nature of a lot of posts in here are not conducive to "educating" anyone though.

I like you Phil and I respect your post so let me shine some more light on my outlook.

If this is just a fun tournament for shits, then I totally think yes it's fine doing whatever it is. But there is a prize on the line, a very good prize(assuming the host goes through with it). So banning what seems to be zoning characters immediately gives those who play these characters in the game no chance of even entering. But the zoning characters are inconsistent. They added in noob, leave sindel in, but ban the rest. There's no consistency to the ban. If you said it was a low tier tournament and banned top 10 or something that's cool. Then there's some consistency there, a way to understand who's banned. But it seems it's just characters this person doesn't care for. Again, his money, his tournament but it looks incredibly scrubby and IMO tarnishes his reputation of being anywhere near considered legit, which would be important to recovering the prize. It's 2014 you've had almost 4 years to learn the game if you can't deal with zoning now you probably need to go back to cod.

If you want to go even further and put your tinfoil hats on, there's a second point. The tournament is run by a forever member. Anyone who plays online knows that all forever members play only Johnny cage Sonya or Kung Lao. Seeing as how their are no zoning characters allowed this immediately gives them a huge advantage. With the exception of Czar who uses sindel(who is a zoning character but wasn't banned? How convienent).

The whole thing stinks of scrub

I know it'll never happen in this stage but I would love to see MK 9 with a hacked updated one day like UMK3 now is going through, with no Kabal dash cancels/block frame traps, KL being more nerfed, QC's zune trap removed, Cyrax's resets removed and Sonya toned down a little. Just to see how the game would play. I'm sure the people who love top tiers would hate it but at least it would be more balanced.

Not saying mastering the element is easy, outside of KL, Kabal, Sonya nobody in this game is easy to play just pointing out that element is broken...and every good QC player now does it(besides you man) lol a few other QC's almost as solid as yours. One including my friend skullface(who's one of the better female players) she also uses him pretty well, I know that he's lower, don't get me wrong I'm all for allowing him, just saying it's a lame way to win to me IMO. Not his reset set ups etc, mix ups. That's fine. I'm talking about his Hit, hit, hit free hit, repeat.... It pretty much forces the player he's fighting to not block and either eat the hit, take the chip, chip, chip, free hit or can't make a mistake against him and constantly move around. I feel similar with Cyrax's resets, especially if that happens and you have no meter you're screwed lol.

I can understand where you're coming from being a QC exclusive player, I'm merely addressing with all characters the balance issue of everyone's gameplay. Afterall as you know I prefer players who use mids and lows instead of whoring the hell out of KL, Kabal, Kenshi, Sonya, Cage etc that gets boring after a while. I'm sure you do, I get people counterpick my Ermac and Sektor all the time with these guys, I'm sure your QC does too I bet lol.

I'm all for bringing him back in MK X, but I can bet you he won't have that again. I think the only reason they didn't patch that was because he was lower. He'll probably have a "zune style" or something if I had to guess.

@MKF30 first off it's runes. Secondly, if you take into account all the sacrifices he has to make to do it, it becomes less lame. Very impressive actually. I don't get a breaker, I don't get armor and I don't get any ex moves. This often makes me plan ahead and know exactly how much meter I have for the next round. It involves so much planning and math and skill if you look at the entire picture as oppose to just oh it's an unblockable move. Play to win bro

Sorry I always screw that up "rune/zune' etc lol like the movie. But yeah dude, that's like I said earlier I'm not for banning him or anything. It just would have been nicer if they buffed him and got rid of his guaranteed damage(rune traps).

I can hear where you're coming from though. Remember, my character who I use Ermac also has no armored moves...so that's another reason why when i use him regardless of my opponent I prefer to play far because for whatever silly reason they figured "hmm let's not give Ermac armor" lol

Planning I agree, and playing smart. Not sure about the math though or what you refer to. I mean I was horrible at math yet in MK at least so far there's nobody I can't take at some point lol with work if I'm on my game that is. I think though as with anything practice makes perfect.

But yeah dude, my issue isn't with you per-se more so with NRS not patching certain characters more appropriately. I hope I didnt upset you.
