Mortal Kombat 1: Definitive Edition announced! End of the games cycle?

The Definitive Edition has been announced with everything already released + the new movie skins. This is a major signal that the cycle of the game is nearing it's end if hasn't reached it already. The only saving grace is Ed saying more on an X post and the "AND MORE" below. I don't think now was the time to be vague as this tells everyone the game is done and in it's definitive state. Did not expect that today! Price tag is $59.99

 

Let's hope for kombat kodes as a nice "farewell" gift.

As I have stated before I like this game a lot but I’m ready and excited for a new MK game.

We're currently into month 21, Sep. 2023 to May 2025. If they release a balance, content, or bug fix patch in Oct. 2025 or later, then it would be the longest supported Mortal Kombat game developed by NetherRealm Studios.

Time will tell. My guess is it'll be second longest, the spot it's currently in.

 

As I have stated before I like this game a lot but I’m ready and excited for a new MK game.

Mk1 potentially being supported for less time then mk11 is really lame, especially since they made a big deal out of "longer support then ever". 3 years of support should be the minimum imo.

 

Im thinking something is off with the pricing. The things that you receive for purchasing the definitive edition ADDON can be bought off the store right now for less than half it's price, all of them. Either they made a big mistake, or there is more to the addon bundle than just the 6 skins and dragon krystals.

That would be cool, although I always wonder how they'd reconcile the gameplay differences. KI's combo system is so unique, and even the inputs are closer to the traditional Street Fighter style while MK is closer to traditional 3D games. Plus b2b vs having a block button.

 

Who cares, NRS just took out the plug that kept MK alive. The patch notes gave hope to see this game kept alive.. Not

It also includes the preorder bonuses like UMK3 noob and Sub Zero, and probably Mk2 Kitana and Mileena, so it should even out I guess.
