Ok so I'm back from gamezone on Wellington street. It's about a 5 min walk from de L'Eglise metro.
I'll be honest it's probably not going to work. It's like 3-4 little things away from being perfect, but unfortunately those 3-4 things are too Important.
For one it closes (normally) at 8 pm. Their busy days are Saturday and Sunday, they have a bunch of Vizio 40inch high def screens, and also a bunch of computer screens (Gateways, I'm sure they aren't no lag). So that's problem number 1. Issue number 2 is they charge per hour, so it's 2$/hr per person, so a regular tournament would cost 6$s at least each. We also don't guarenty anything with that. We can rent the whole room (which might be great for an event in all honesty) for 50$/hr and 75$/hr on weekends. They have ps4s and Xbox 1s but those are hooked up to the 40 inch tvs, and cost more per hour. It's honestly a family place, and although it's a super cool store (I bought another ps2 pad while I was there) I don't think they will be able to cater to our needs specifically. That and the lack of no lag, and when I mentioned we would like to bring our own consols they said they'd need to ask the owner. Everyone there was super cool, but it's kind of a bust I think. Their website is
www.gamezonejeux.com they have some pictures in the "contact us" section, but only of the main floor. You'll see the top floor in the pictures, but that's been sectioned off now and has a door that says employees only.
So I'll keep an eye out for more places.
So back to Option two, and the pussy palace (great name Chuck, I'm keeping it).
My living room is currently completely empty (long story), and I could easily fit 3 tables in there with some chairs and probably a couch it would accommodate 10-12 people comfortably (people not playing could hang out in the kitchen too) and would be great for 3 set ups. I have one no lag screen a ps4 a PS3 and an Xbox 360. We'd need 2 more screens (which is the biggest problem barring Jer getting a ride every week) a copy of the game on Xbox (MKX would be a diff story), two tables a few chairs and a couch. I have the power bars, the Internet to stream, a cool dog to play with, two balconies for people to smoke, 420 friendly apartment and a cool landlord that will give me no troubles.
So here's the real question you guys need to be honest about, because right now I'm in limbo of furnishing my place or not, do we want to do the local at my apartment, if we do I could have no more than like 15 here, are you guys willing to come this far west (about a 8 min walk from metro Monk) and would you guys be willing to provide me with some kind of venue fee (something minimal we could ALL agree on).
The positive points are obvious. We have more flexibility on when we do the local. You can byob or byos, it's just us, we have a guaranteed internet, it would be a really cool atmosphere.
Negatives are that it's pretty far for some people to go to Monk Metro, I will impose some sort of venue fee, and with a big group it could get a bit stuffy.
