Match Footage MLG Dallas MIT vs Perfect Legend

I'm not trying to blow anyone up here, I'm just trying to get my point across that I think it's important to take responsibility for your losses as a professional (don't blow me up for using that word) fighting game player.
it's all good, he is just going to keep being salty and it won't change anything. This match is in the books and he can't do anything about it.

After watching the video again. I noticed the this lui kang was played calmly and precise. I've seen some crazy rushdown kang get blown out but that's cause they are rushing down too much and not thinking. MIT played calm and smart.

ok, now that I.. Tom Brady am posting again..

I would understand PL's over reaction IF we were still in the old days of MK9. In the old days, not making top 8 ONCE = exposed, fraud, over rated, etc etc etc..

BUT, this is the current day where the community has finally got off of the "anyone off the street can place top 8" mentality that was around in early MK9. The community has finally realized that there are A LOT of top players and that it is not easy placing top.

EVERYONE loses, and you have to give props to others when its their moment because we all want our props when its our time to shine. Again, we all lose, there is no shame in losing to other great players.

On the other side, this community LOVES IT when someone is salty to the point that we encourage it because the community finds it entertaining. Then they turn around and blow someone up for being salty and say they shouldnt do it. Then, next time around, they encourage it again.

As competitors, no one likes to lose, I mean LBSH here lol. But when we do lose, people want to hate and rub your nose in it and this can make you get defensive. What players need to do is step back and when the haters come at you with "DAAAMNN! BLOW UP! YO BRO, WHY'D YOU LOSE AHAHAHAHA" just look at them and say "uhh.. because the other guy is a great player".

hell.. back in the old days of MK9 when the game was fucking new, you couldnt say shit LOL. "HEY TOM YOU SCRUB, WHY DID YOU LOSE TO THIS GUY AHAHAHAHA" and I would say "because he is a great player" all you got was "EXCUSES! YOU LOST AHAHAHAHAHA!". After several months, i got defensive and started to talk and thats when the slippery slope started lol. I even started getting defensive after getting top 8 in 4 consecutive majors with 100 or more players. Looking back on that I see just how dumb that was. When you start defending getting 4th and 5th at big majors to nobodies trying to blow you up for still placing top, you know the trolls are winning.

What I learned is that some people are just assholes and haters and they want to hurt you, even though they dont even know you. Yes, there are people out there that who are so childish that they actually want to hurt you all because they dont like the manner in which you play a video game. What you have to realize is that these people dont matter. Who are they? Nobodies who are too scared to ever show their face. They are a non factor unless you make them one. By acknowledging them and allowing their words to influence your decisions, your name now lends to theirs, and you give them power and their words power. You open the door for them and make their words as loud as yours. These haters sit back and laugh as they get top players to basically give them the power to kill a community by causing dumb inner turmoil.

The thing that makes the MK community the best is that while we all want to be competitive, no matter who we beat or lose to, there is always that level of respect where we KNOW who is legit at the end of the day. TYM is growing, the MK community is growing.. and even though we are getting bigger, we are a very tight knit group, almost like an MK family. Just like a family, while we may make our jokes and occasional trash talk, we will be damned if some random avg/scrub player/troll comes in and insults top players. Then, even hose who talk trash to you will have your back.

This is what makes us a great community. Dont you think if some troll said to the Vegas crew "yeah.. hahaha PL sucks and is mad over rated" that ALL of them would say "maaaaan.. STFU". But if the trolls get you PL and get him to come on and say something, thats when it starts.

also, letting these haters get to you make you perform worse. why do you think people say "dude.. Tom has hella leveled up after EVO"? its because what people say no longer effects my decisions in match.

Dude, there was a time when I was so worried about the blow up. I have played so below my level at times, and even gone out without every trying my absolute best character and giving me the best chance to win. This is why I criticize this so much when I am commentating at MLG, I have been down that road and know that it leads to Losers Bracketville and/or Elimination City.

When someone says "why didnt PL start with Lao?", its because the threat of the blow up and what others say effected the decision and sometimes you look for the easier route or what you THINK is such. At the end of the day, the best option is to realize that you have to win by OUTPLAYING the opponent and not looking for something they may not know how to deal with.

Surely we can all understand this, we have all been blown up, and all have let haters get us to react at one point and later thought "damn, I'd like to take that back" lol.. In this case, PL needs to realize that being the 2 time EVO champ buys you a long leash, and not let these haters influence him.

lets just look at this match, give MIT his props, realize that PL is still a great player, and move on.. next tourney.

Lets be serious here; for all this talk of knowing the matchup, PL lost to:

b312
fireball

and

an overhead.

It's not like it was insane skarlet blockstring/armordashcancel/teleport pressure or some strange hitbox or dragon stance shenanigans. Nor was it PigTricks or some other obscure tech. It was spacing and standard zoning. It's not the matchup that he lost to.. It was fundamentals.

PL is a great fighting game player with a deep understanding of the nature of FGs. His MK9 loss at MLG, though, shows that you do actually need to put in work in order to be the best. At a certain point, being out of practice, not having a scene, and not knowing the matchups stop being legitimate excuses.

never. When I get a scene that allows me to play every match up like you all have on a regular basis then when I lose I will gladly accept the loss lo
CoCo monthlies. Forever King plays about the entire roster at an extremely high level including Liu Kang.
