-NRS takes the unprecedented step of overhauling the game's entire networking engine, less than a year into the game's life, to the benefit of the fans
-NRS takes a (for them) unprecedented step of actually testing out their proposed changes with live gameplay, before they distribute them to the build that will affect tournaments and all future gameplay

.... people complain?

Shaking my head -- this are two major positives, not negatives; it's high time everyone stops complaining incessantly and just enjoys the game. Man, oh man.

I'm all about new netcode and I commend NRS for their efforts to resolve that matter. I still have problems with the introduction of game changing mechanics that not everyone has access to.

Through this post you have no sense of my sincerity so I understand how it can be taken. I'm not stomping my feet huffing and puffing. For me to play anything other than the beta is wasting my time. If it was a netcode beta that would not be the case.

Smarrgasm

What's a Smarrgasm?
What most people probably wont understand is that the new netcode was overhauled in what is this version of the game. It wouldnt make sense for them to use the current version (one that for them has been outdated for weeks/months) to test the new netcode. They simply implemented it onto what was already in their hands.

Its possible that even some of the changes we are seeing are just things that are being tested and may not even exist in the full release of MKXL and KP2.

I think its harsh to say that NRS is simply using this as a hook when theyve worked extremely hard to finally fix what weve all been wishing for.

With all due respect... you're fucking kidding, right?

NRS has done NOTHING BUT LISTEN to the community. Online has been by far their biggest struggle and their doing this to help. They've opened Beta forums on the official forums, etc.... it's a big deal to them and to us.

IMO your outlook on this is extremely foolish.

Huge deal I understand and I am grateful for an updated netcode. I don't see why new mechanics were introduced other than to cause buzz to hold us over for a month. Thank you for being civil.

New mechanics and changes are necessary and they've learned from their mistakes as well. Meaning, they don't release patches/changes nearly as often. They're taking their time to listen to the community and make the appropriate changes.

BTW I apologize for the language, but I actually found your accusation offensive. NRS is my heart... no other game has ever or will ever mean as much to me than NRS games.

Besides, these changes cost NOTHING... so, I understand your argument even less than I already did.

Goro?
I get that some people are upset about not getting into the beta, but I doubt NRS would deliberately send codes to a predetermined set of 'MK fanboys'. Plenty of people, including myself, received codes despite not being well known players. And for the record, I'm pretty sure the code distribution is random, cuz several people received codes for systems that they don't even own. Either way, the point of this beta is to test the new netcode, not scout for character changes. And while it's likely that some of these changes will make it into the full game, we still have no idea if it's been finalized or not. Why do you think NRS haven't even bothered to mention or post anything listing the gameplay changes? It's also possible that they're looking for feedback on these important gameplay changes so that they don't just drop it on us and cause even more salt. Besides... the new netcode might be released when MK XL drops on Mar. 1 anyway, so it's not like the wait is that long either. Personally, I think it'd be great if everyone had access to the beta, but maybe they had a good reason for limiting the number of participants. We can't exactly pretend we know their circumstances. And let's not forget that NRS didn't even need to have a beta in the first place, or even put in the time and effort to make this new netcode. They already have our money, so they could have just moved onto injustice 2 or something. But they didn't, so we should at least give credit where credit is due.

NRS knows it has hands full with SF5 lurking around the corner buts its a business like you said...with that said MK is the most selling fighting game franchise of its time(correct me if im wrong)
with the changes to the game and netcode is them listening to the complaints we had with them since mk9....they are actually listening and showing they actually care...end of the day is sf5 isnt for everybody and mk lost alot of people that was interested in the game because of how bad online was...fix the netcode get them back..more money from the game..more money to support the tournament scene and other ventures in the future and now that we know that they can have a good netcode more people will buy injustice 2 from other communities and all in all bring more money to them..so yes its a business at the end of the day..but im glad there listening

You are implying that the other companies focused on FGC aren't doing the same. Actually, it's not true, what is NRS doing is completely normal.
Yeah, they are changing a lot of stuff, but, they had too. SFV is going to be a major problem with their interests, a lot of people myself included may jump to the bandwagon on playnig the new Street fighter. But, lets be real, Capcom has doind the same, a lot of exhibition matches, ALPHA and BETA changes, they are luring us even more than NRS does.
Seeing this as a conspiration from NRS may be right, but, thats business. If they didn't try stuff like that well.. NRS could be already dead.

I disagree...SF isnt for everybody...yea people will give it a try but the diehard MK fans will stay around....and the scene is gonna get bigger...NR made the right business move with these changes in my opinion

I believe its what smarrgasm said. In a studio where they were already working on a new patch for the kp2 drop this just happened to be the state the characters were in when it was time to add the new netcode and release the beta. Basically these character changes were just the current build at the time and there may be more or less changes in the final version.

MrProfDrPepper

NRS, Guilty Gear, and KI, the holy trinity
I think the point of the beta is to test out the character changes AND the netcode, to see how the community reacts to the changes, to see how well they balanced it, weather or not stuff still needs tweaking.

I wasn't being sarcastic. You were civil and I know that my opinion isn't fact. It's just how I feel. Thanks for the feedback.
