Guide MK9 Top 10 of all time

2) Rankings-wise. Maxter was higher based on people he'd beaten, and he ended up beating PL twice when they finally met. Coincidence?

Sorry, couldn't help but laugh at the rankings part. Even if we live in a hypothetical world where your rankings are super duper official, they only reflect where those players stood AT THE TIME, not on an all time list.

PL is without a doubt the best.

2 time evo winner in a single game. There's been less than a handful of players who have been able to do that in their respective games.

You know people like Daigo and Justin...not saying he's on their level but it says a lot.

People from the eastcoast and NY in particular are going to say Reo, midwest is gonna say PL, and westcoast would go as far as to say Denzell or maybe PL. The bias in this thread is too stronk

If we take an Olympic approach...

The way medal table is formed at the Olympics is by sorting nations by total gold medals won, then by total silver medals won and then by total bronze medals won. Number of gold medals is more important than total (gold+silver+bronze) number of medals. For example, at the 2012 Summer Olympics South Korea won 13 gold medals and 28 medals overall and finished ranked #5 on the medal table, while Germany won 11 gold medals and 44 medals overall and finished ranked #6 overall (despite their total medal tally being greater than S. Korea's).

If we consider Evo as an equivalent of the Olympic gold medal, MLGs as equivalent of the Olympic silver and other majors as equivalents of bronze medals then Perfect Legend is the #1 player.

As ABBA once sang- The Winner Takes It All...

[Song was a hit for a reason lol] ;)

I like this post a lot. That's pretty much how I view it too.

in terms of accomplishments i agree

i still feel that foxy grampa was the best player fundamentally around evo 2012 (he fell off because of inactivity) and preceding that

I also feel that woundcowboy eventually became a superior player than roughly half of that top 5 for the end, along with other 88s who weren't as lucky at evo like daddy dab, got a dq and if u watch his match vs reo you can tell the level of reads and footsies he has... too me curbo and foxy for a long time were better cages then dizzy

This is shameful really some of the stuff I'm reading. What's the point of even going to community majors at all if they don't count. Do you realize how much competiton was a final round and nec 2012? Forget the mlgs for now. Aside from all the other majors Reo has won those two in particular are just as impressive as mlg wins to me. So in my eyes that's equivalent to 5 mlg wins, 2 second place at evo, ton of other majors and locals, and beating the evo champ twice including most recently. Also Reo is in the Guinness book of world record for most mk tournament wins. Can we just stop the Reo downplaying please? No one is perfect you can't win them all but if you win more than anyone else you are the best.

Your list is decently accurate, but I will give you my reasons as to why I believe I am a top 10 competitor.

I have been to 10 majors since I have started playing MK9 competitively. Those majors in order from first to last are:

MLG Colombus
PowerUp 2012
Season's Beatings
Evolution 2012
MLG Raleigh
Season's Beatings Ascension
Frosty Faustings
WinterBrawl 9
UFGT9
Evolution 2013

Out of those 1o majors I went to, I placed top 8 at seven of them, and the three that I didn't place top 8 at I placed 9th. So that means that I have a 70% chance of making top 8 at any tournament that I go to, and if even if I don't make top 8 I am at least getting 9th for sure. I have never placed lower than 9th. That is a pretty good consistency. Not to mention that I am the only person in the world (besides Perfect Legend) that can say I have placed top 8 at every single Evo I have been to. And all cockiness aside, I honestly believe I would have placed top 8 at Evo 2011 had I gone. Reo and PL were 1st and 2nd place there, and I used to get them best of them online but that was back when I didn't go to tournaments. Also I am like one of 5 people who has two Evo top 8's under their belt. Back in the past I used to get tournament nerves alot, which caused me to get 9th place at those three tournaments instead of top 8. Now that I no longer get tournament nerves in MK9, I really don't see myself getting less than top 8 anywhere ever again :D

King, I cannot base my list on "what if I had traveled more" or "what if I hadn't been nervous". There is no room for what ifs here.

However, your actual resume is extremely good. You have a top 10 resume. Unfortunately, so do Dizzy and Tyrant. So I have to pick two and leave one out. They also have many top 8 placements at grass roots majors. They do not have two EVO medals but Tyrant has one and a MLG placing. Dizzy has two MLG placings and second place at an MLG Arena. What sets them apart is wins. They both won a big grass roots major. Dizzy won two, one of them over you in the grand finals.

Who said they "don't count"? I count them. That is why he is second or arguably the best. EVO just counts more.

It doesn't count more than ALL those other major and MLG wins to me and two second place finishes at evo on top of it. Here a perfect example... Is Chris G NOT the best Marvel player right now? HE didn't win EVO but he's still widely considered the best Marvel player. Why? Because of his dominance all year round.

This is true. If I was on the list, I would probably be right there like at 9 or 10. If I'm not on the list I would probably be between 11-13. There are so many good people in Mortal Kombat's past it is hard to make a top 10 list. But if MK keeps having majors for the next year or two and ends up being at Evo again next year, I can promise that I will deliver at every tournament that I go to. And in the end when all is said in done, I believe I will unquestionably be in the top 10 list of history

Chris G is the best Marvel player right now. No one disputes REO has been the best MK player of the past year. This is an all time list. Carl was the best or top 5 best in all eras of the game. That says something.

Its just his opinion. Some people have you as #10 if they made a list. 16bits top 10 opinions doesnt mean his list is all correct. PL over reo nikka plz

I hope MK is still around for you to prove this true. I wouldn't mind having another Midwest player on the list anyway.

All I know is, i'm undefeated vs the two time evo champ :p haha. But I feel we should make like a top 20 list, there are some players that are being left out that are on the same level as the top 10.

REO and downplaying in the same sentence? LOL yeah, TYM downplays REO... Now I've read it all.

im sorry but didnt carl beat reo twice and not the other way around? also I am not telling you PL is the better player but this is for arguements sake. Pl won THE tournament where the biggest competition was in mk9 history which was evo 2012 even uk guys were there, curbo was only in the first 2 mlgs which reo didnt win but he was at evo same thing for detroit, I dont think he was at the 2 mlgs that reo won.

having that said I am leaning towards reo side at the moment but we should discuss this more.

those top 10-15 spots would make hell break lose in this thread because thats where the real discussion lies lol

Which is why I didn't bring them up here. But someone mentioned them, so I responded.

Easy there :)

It is too late. I like Wound a lot and was so happy he placed top 8 at EVO this year. Sadly he became so good too late in the game's lifespan. If you look at the rest it's all guys who were on top for over a year with multiple MLG and EVO level placings. Top 10 now for sure though, if you were just ranking current skill.

Same argument could be made against dizzy. Although I do feel a lot of Wounds recent success stems from: People don't know how to fight Shang Tsung, he throws fits if he doesn't get player 1 since he is dependent on winning every trade for good up skull pressure and people stopped taking it so seriously around the time he blew up.
