Kabal and D'Vorah got their own forums and Kano still doesn't. Maybe because the mods didn't see anyone talking about him. Well they sure got some balls to diss the original Black Dragon like that.

Who else is looking forward to hearing Kano and Subz bant about that time Sub's face got all fucked up? Good times.

Not sure if someone has mentioned it or not, but it's clear that the Kano revealed is young Kano because of his tattoos.

In this image you see that he has tattoos on both arms.

The render we were given only has tattoos on one arm.

So anyone wanting more gruff Kano instead of sexy young Kano will probably get him in his older skin where he has more expendable money for more sick ink. ;)

Some characters are strongly reminiscent of their old selves, and some are vastly different. For Kano, I'll trust the direction they choose, but I'm hoping forms of his Cybernetic and Commando are brought back as two variations in some way. Those two may have been a bit hindered in MKX due to the system, but I'd imagine they would shine bright in MK11's system. Either way, I am at least expecting a bit that he'll be a strong footsie type character somehow someway.

Or just give us the glorious Cybernetic knives, D4, and B1 so we can call it a day. What does everyone think?

I actually would like pretty much the same as you. I mostly played Cybernetic and Commando even though Cutthroat was definitely the most "MKX-esque" variation. The former two are just so much fun.
They would also, probably, be very strong in this game though, so they'll probably be toned down, but I expect a version of the key moves to make it, so that those variations can at least live in spirit.
For example, even though Cybernetic damage is part of the fun :cool:, we're probably not getting that, but I'd be PRETTY HAPPY if we had everything else, zoning, great whiff punishing, anti-airs, plus frames? :p
And also good grappler Kano for the "anti-zoner" matchups, and maybe, this time around I'll even like rushdown Kano (Although, hopefully I get to do that part with J.Cage).

If I had to guess, I'd think Kano will play a lot like how Baraka plays from the demo build with a lot of +frame normals and strings like Baraka's + on block D4.

Now that MK11 is actually focusing on footsies, it seems like an obvious bet that Kano will be a footsies/zoning character again. But I just hope they don't go too far with it.

I don't like the sound of Kano with an amazingly safe mid projectile again.
I don't want MK11 to be a projectile-fest 100% of the time.

IMO it should be a really fast recovering safe HIGH projectile that complements his footsies and ranged pokes with a short ranged command grab or something to make him viable up close.

But mostly, I hope his focus will be his pokes and ranged strings.

I don't want him to be a character that gets 100% of his damage from his thrown knives like Kitana and her fans. Instead I think it'd be way more cool if he used his high knives and upball to control the pace of the match kind of like MK9 Kano (who I mained a million years ago).

So I was thinking, wouldn't it be absolutely badass if Kano's super spammable super safe high knives were on a resource that he had to reload every so often kind of like Ibuki from Street Fighter 5? That way he could have this amazingly crazy projectile that you have to slowly work your way in on, but he can't slow down the match to a crawl so it wouldn't be boring to play against or spectate.

That'd be cool af.

God, I hate his current design. I hope w get something as good as MKX design was - he has to look sick, as well as his meta game play gotta be smokin' af!

I love his current design. He looks like such a slimy dirtbag! He also looks quicker, wilier, like the kind of maniac who would tuck himself into a ball and slam his ass into your face.

I want lasers and balls (and you can quote me out of context on that!). I don't really care about knives. But if I can light my opponent up with eye lasers and launch myself all over the screen as a ball of doom, I'm all in.

I hope he keeps the command grabs, those were ridiculously fun. I also hope he has an overhead this time, the most frustrating part about playing Commando Kano online is everyone just duck blocks in the corner and D2's me to death.

That sounds like a solid and fun design also. I'd be down for it. Especially this part-

That sounds like something right up a few of our ally. As much as I'll take my mid knives I'd take this as well. As long as Kano plays like Kano I think we'll all be ecstatic.

If they go the 3 variation route instead of the "build your character" route for tourney play, I hope they do something like V1-Godly footsies and poke heavy (variation specific normal or special to enhance footsie toolset), V2- Zone heavy with solid pokes, V3- Footsie and poke heavy with command grabs. I guess most similar to something like Baraka is currently, but a bit different to fit Kano. It's funny because Kano is probably one of the main characters I expect them to fit perfectly into his players style so I have zero worries one way or the other.

The only thing I'd outright say I don't want is all variations to turn into Sonya-esque play. I can't play that style so I'd be heartbroken, but the likely chances of that are slim to none.

They touched on it a bit with Cybernetic, but that would be awesome if they expanded on laser moves in MK11. Specials, strings, KB, whatever or however. It would add so much flair and visuals to his attacks. Something reminiscent of Zod's laser, a couple of more strings involving it. So much potential there.
 
I liked Kano in MKX and I'm glad to see him return, but his revealed design seems really basic. Luckily we have customizations to spice that up.

I'm drawn to characters that have moves that feel brutal aesthetically, so I'm hoping to see things like his grabs and mb choke back, while also having some midrange footsie options.

I wish they brought back his original white costume or the futuristic bald Kano from MK3.

I'll play him regardless of what hes like. I've always had this weird loyalty to him. Knife/Kano ball is a great zoning combination in this system.

I hope he has something more than just "footsies and projectiles" tho. I feel like that's not exactly a character seller in this game. I'd like to see Kano have range between Sonya and Kabal, but faster walk speed, so that he could easily walk in and out of both his and the opponents ranges.

I also really want a grappler variation because I feel like that suits his personality a lot more than zoning

There are a lot of possibilities with what they can do with Kano. He could be a zoner that uses grenades, knives, and eye lasers.

He could grapple using his military-esque looking grabs and parries that he did with Commando

Or he could be a footsies/pressure monster with plus frames from long range knife normals or stuff like his Cutthroat db1.

Personally, I'd like:

A fast fireball
Long range, safe normals
A good uppercut, or other anti air.

I think i'd be fine with that.

Truly... This is how I feel. I hope NRS keeps his CMD & Cyber variation somewhat similar. They just didn't have the chance to truly be viable throughout the games life.

I can argue from now to next year about so many things but I like what I've seen with the revamped Baraka, Skarlet and all the others. Hope. I got real hope that Kano can be a solid character. Overall this time around.

A safe high. Brings me back to MK3 with his blade throw. Which was really good. I can dig this idea. Especially if it's amplified and he throws 2 like Kabal now. In MK9 you can literally have 2 on the screen and MB the next one just to catch them off guard. He missing any sort of threat like this in MKXL without MB knives.

MKDA laser blast damn near full screen with pushback and hit stun. YES. YES. YES. YES. YES. YES. YES.

Let them bring back up laser but better. Give it 2 different angles so it properly stuff jumpins and cross ups. I agree 1000%

It would be nice to see his air throw return. Kano is a baller so he semi controls the air as well. Having Sonya STILL have her air throw in MKXL has well as previous games while Kano got mixup with his that was brutal on wiff and recovery. Well partner that don't seems fair.

Also I hope some of basic staple moveset is universal however they do default variation. Seeing moves like blade slice, choke, air throw return with up ball and air ball (both ground and air) has basic load out would be amazing but fair.

Remember he had this in MK3.
