MK11 Arcade Stick layout and input tutorial

Though u only need 5, it’s not the most effective layout since button combinations don’t always work. Your best layout would include a LT button.

Relying on a two button combination for rolls is not the best idea from testing.

So I would make that it’s own button

Leave fatal blows a 3+blk+4.
Throws 1+3
Amplify. 1+3

Arcade stick users are used to double button combinations. I honestly never miss any double or triple button combinations. I can definitely see how people without arcade stick experince would struggle, but in the very beginning, even throwing a fireball is a struggle with a stick.

I think it has more to do with if that character has a combo that starts with those two buttons. Like jade 4-3 comes out sometimes.

The button above block should be throw. Hitting 1+2 for interactables always works; however, for some strange reason 1+3 for throw has problems working consistently throughout my experience playing NRS games. This layout is the same layout I used for MK9 and MK X.

Could someone please explain why negative edge is bad in NRS games ? Like why should i turn it off like everyone suggest, I come from capcom games where its very good to have negative edge for combos.

I've been playing pad since launch buy am trying stick out for MK11 because am naturally a stick guy.

any advice would be much appreciated.

In my experience, negative edge is bad in NRS games because with certain characters it’s real easy to have something unintended come out when transitioning from a poke. IE, you want to go into an F1 starter string after landing D1, but you throw a projectile instead.

You could change your controls to require diagonals to avoid this scenario, but it’s probably more practical for most people to just disable negative edge.

It's good if you play on pad, but if you're playing on stick it makes getting out specials way more inconsistent. It'll change your timing a lot, but in the end, it's way better to have it off.
