Did you say auto combo's? Like the you can use pre programmed combos at the flick of a button?
CORRECT! Its automatic by mashing the light punch button and it will even lauch your opponent in the air. Its cheap and weak as shit, but it can be turned off.

Wow, at least it can be turned off. Not a big MvC guy, so at first I thought this was standard play.

Super noob here, still playing MVC3 to be honest.

Was wondering if someone can point me to the frame data in game? Other games just has frame data right in your face (Start menu > move list > BAM, frame data right there). Or does MVC3 not work like the others regarding stuff like block advantage, stun, frame trapping, pressure, links, etc.?

Went being completely uninterested in the game, to now kinda needing it LOL. Thought it was going to suck given some of the stuff I was seeing in pre-release, but everyone is saying that the gameplay is actually really good. Thinking about getting it later this year/early next year.

In the meantime, I've been playing in Training Mode on UMvC3 and watching a lot of videos on MvC:I in preparation. Characters I'm most excited about are Ryu, Dante, Chris, Captain America, Hawkeye, and Thanos. So luckily I can practice with most of those characters in UMvC3, which will hopefully make transitioning to them better in the new game.

By the way, I see a lot of people saying that they are having trouble learning MvC:I, and that they can spend a lot of time in practice getting nowhere.

Hopefully this is what most of you are doing, but try spending your time practicing your "opening-up potential". Knowing optimized combos and stuff is important, but it's more important actually being able to hit your opponent.

Keep practicing your low/overhead mix-ups, left/right cross-up mix-ups, Active-Switch fakeouts, etc. Try to get to the point where you can constantly chain together your mix-ups nonstop. When it comes to combos, just focus on the basic "Magic Series" combos and use an OTG attack to link into another simple combo. You can learn the more complicated combos once you can actually open your opponent up more consistently.

Lasting thing: practicing wave-dashing.

If you are having a tough time (so am I in UMvC3), I recommend just practicing this exercise: Dash, down, Dash, down. That's it. Don't worry about being able to wave-dash infinitely yet, just focus on being able to cancel a dash into another one quickly. For some characters just being able to do a "double dash" should be enough to get very close to the opponent, or even chase them down after a air splat mid-screen so you can get your OTG.

Also try mapping your dash to L1/L2/R1/R2, which ever you like the most. Trust me, it helps a lot. So lets say you have it mapped to L1, then you need to be practicing: L1, down, L1, down. I mentioned "double dash" above, and that's what I like calling it because it helps me with the next part.

So when you want to do like 4 dashes or whatever, in your brain you need to think of it like linking a "Double Dash" into another "Double Dash". DONT think about it as doing L1, down, L1, down, L1, down, L1, down, over and over again. Just think "Okay, I have to do my double dash that I've been practicing, and then do another double dash quickly after"

Then of course if you need to do 6 dashes for whatever reason, just think of it as doing 3 double dashes or whatever. Eventually (hopefully lol) you will get to the point where you are so comfortable in your double dashes into double dashes, and you are so used to the inputs, that you will be able to do it infinitely.

Thanks bro. Yea this is probably the funnest fighter out there right now. There's so many things to learn, more than any current fighter. The good news is that these marvel games live for years, this game will most likely co-main EVO for many years to come, so it's worth it to learn and spend time.

It's all so very confusing.
So, how similar is this game to MvC3 in terms of feel/timing? Ie, if I load up MvC3 and jump in training mode, does that give me any idea as to the way this game feels/responds? I bought MvC3 for some reason and then never ever played it even once.. I dont even know if Ive ever even run the damn game.

but the more I watch and read it looks like, shittty production values aside, the game plays like a champ and people seem to really like it.. I'm giving some thought to picking it up in a few days, though it REALLY sucks to have to buy a damn converter for my stick (I can play it on pad but would VASTLY prefer it on stick) OR buy it on PC where my stick should work just fine............ but I imagine the PC population is nothing like the ps4 one?

Dunno.. Might buy it on PC anyway. Anyone here playing on PC?

He looks super heavily played, but Jedah looks amazing.. Dante and Strider too.. Zero looks kinda dope.

You had people claiming this game was a fail because if graphics etc. I honestly think those people were just scared that this game will blow their fighters out of the water, and it appears it has. I mean the hype and viewers this game already has is insane. The depth of this game looks to be endless, so many things you can CREATE in this game. My favorite fighters are SFV and mkx, but haven't touched them since I bought mvci, because even to begin understanding this game takes time and practice. As for the fun factor, this game rocks dude. You can spends hours just on two characters in training mode just to see how they compliment each other, and I'm not even talking about mixing in the stones lol. About mvc3 some people claim it's better to start off fresh but I'm sure if you know how to play mvc3 you'll have a better understanding of this game than someone that has never played a marvel game for example. But it's different enough that in time it won't matter. I finally understand why "when's mahvel?" is so pupular lol.,

How is the pc port\player base\netcode and is there cross play?
The netcode is pretty good. The issue with SFV is the rift issue it has that causes one player rollback. Tony Cannon explained it in his video. They fixed that with MvCi. Let's hope they do the same when SSFV comes out.

Don't think there is cross play and not sure about PC. I can find matches quicker and faster in this game then SFV if that means anything.

Thanks man, if there is no crossplay though its prob a no buy for me which is a bummer cuz it looks pretty fun.

After watching those Cross Counter videos i'm starting to get the idea of the neutral. In a nutshell, at least as I understand it- put a projectile on screen and then go in.

Like the Reality Stone seems to have the purpose of "if you have a shitty team where neither member has a projectile". stones are actually awesome in general in this regard- where a team that may not have worked at all in terms of your meta balance can now work if you choose the correct stone supplement.

But yeah, because of the switch mechanic and whatnot you can throw out any slow moving projectile and then switch in a character to "go in" while it's on screen. I'm modelling my strategy after this. Maybe it's not the best but its working so far.
