Question Looking back, who did you use to win your first tournament ever in MK9?

First MK9 tournament I won was in Cleveland at Console Combat with Reptile. (Only tournament win in MK9 I have... >.>)

If I didn't have to deal with Master D, King, PL, and Dave at these tourneys, it would have been more wins lol.

I'm still working to try and get my W. The closest I've gotten was 3rd Place at Paraduse Lost, last month. Hopefully with MKX, I can finally get that 1st at some event!

Oh.. And I used Freddy. But.. I had a broken ps2 pad. Just bought a new one for WB!

Granted he used smoke not Kang but his smoke was godlike! One of the early innovators

The first tournament I won was at the gamestop pre-release using Stryker. We agreed to ban demo characters, because it would be unfair to xbox players. After playing a few casuals I noticed that Stryker was pretty cheesy. I would just spam guns and grenades, and if anybody thought about shooting fireballs I would just roll right through it. It was this tactic that lead to my victory.

I only used him because I knew no one would know what to do verse a knockdown into bombs. Seriously, with 50% combos, Cyrax was good enough.

first tournament was a local in puerto rico with smoke. then won another local when i moved to florida. never attended a major. tried going to CEO one year but life got in the way

Well I won the gamestop tourny with Mileena, and locals with Kitana after.

I never won a major or a known tourny. I came close with kitana spamming d1+ air fans tho

If it wasnt for Reos Kabal you would had won a major!

I never tournied MK9. I arrived to late because TvC and Marvel were my first serious titles...but as I learned things I started seeing so much I didn't enjoy in the games that I wanted to find something else. Hearing IGAU was coming I wanted to know about MK9 and since every year I had just ended up catching MK9 at EVO and had been very entertained and impressed each time I jumped in.

If I had entered it would have been as Smoke but if it got rough I'd have likely switched to my backup Sonya.

MKX I will be there day 1 with folks. This time I'm happy to pull my head out my ass, stop listening to the loudest crowd and start listening to my own thoughts on playing something because it just plain looks fun. Really burns me up how single minded the Marvel community was and how much of that shit I used to just go along with. There are many great fighters and MK9 was one. I'm glad I've opened up enough to experience them all.

i've never used another character besides smoke. in tournament i'd use JC or sonya for KL... like twice maybe, but i'd like to think im a strong character loyalist who perseveres through my 13 bad MU's
