Hello everyone!

After taking part in ECT 2011, my friends and I are more inspired to expand our local gaming scene. Currently for the last six weeks we have been running a MK, Marvel 3, and Melee tournament (plus one random tournament) every Sunday. Dispite the unprofessional location (my new apartment) we run an extremely smooth and competitive tournament scene. We currently host around 15 members a week in all three major games and are looking to expand. I personally want to do everything I can to keep the MK scene alive and strong in the Philly area. We have 5 HDTVs that have no lag and all but one are over 28''.We also have 4 ps3's to run MK/Marvel and two Gamecubes to run Melee. Sorry, we run nothing on 360! Every week free drinks are included and a $5 door fee which goes to ordering pizza from an awesome local place. I earn no money from doing this, simply just for the love of the game.



Update: Our weekly tournament is looking to have it's largest crowd yet (I'm hoping for around 25) next week. We thought it would be nice to name ourselves for consistency and add in a sweet prize! Our prize will be a king's crown for each game (Marvel, MK, and Deadliest Warrior). Winners, wear it proud!

Doors open up every Sunday at 9am! The tournaments start at 1pm, Mortal Kombat specifically starts at 3pm!

PS: We have no streaming equipment but are looking into it at the moment. If anyone would like to bring any equipment they own please let me know. We could pull a Storms and stream through our HTC phones, but that's dirty haha!

You just made my fucking day! This isn't too close to me but not too far and kinda close... might be and hour and a half to two hours... not sure.

You need to let AC1984 aware of this asap!!!

BTW, I do plan to attend but depending on which Sunday and how long you guys run this. GOOD SHIT!!!

I just spoke to AC on the phone today and informed him. I'll be getting back to him with the details since I wasn't sure what time we were starting this week.

Most weeks (including this one) we start running tournaments at 1pm. First is Marvel, which ends around 2:30 to 3pm. Mortal Kombat starts at 3pm and runs to 4-4:30pm. Melee is our late game starting at 6pm. In between we take a pizza break and play some casuals or do our random game tournament (we're huge on Deadliest Warrior at the moment lol).

So to sum it up, doors open up at 9am (aka when I get up and shower) - serious business starts at 1pm. Even though this is a MK community, I do have to say our Marvel tournaments are HYPE! We're not pros, so if you're like me and focus only on MK, Marvel can still be a blast.

Well shit, this has become quite the spectacle.

Andrew, or... I guess, SwiftTomahawk did a good job outlining what goes on at these events, but there are a few points I'd like to reiterate. Most notably is the fact that, above all else, it's a really friendly environment at the moment. You're not going to find big money pots and in every single game there is a range of skill from beginner to, what I'd like to think is pretty damn good. So we really welcome everyone, you don't need to be some godlike pro to have fun with everyone, we do this just as much to hang out as we do to play competitive fighters.

Given that it's not always a tense, serious environment (we get hype and joke around a lot), we play outrageous games like the awful Deadliest Warrior downloadable game. You couldn't imagine the kind of hype one-shotting someone with a spear through the face creates. Hilarious stuff.

Anyway, even with all the fun stuff, we're all about expanding the community and helping it evolve. We definitely have some high level players in each game so I think there's a little something for everyone.

Also, Storms, I'm really bad with directions (I let my GPS do my thinking for me), but I hear you're close to Lancaster somewhat(?). If that's the case, since I'm more than used to the drive to and from KoP (I'm kind of stranded out here haha), there might be a carpool opportunity.


Edit: By the way, to AC and Storms, we've actually met. If Phase 3 isn't familiar, I'm uh... the Mileena guy? AC, I think Andrew filled you in on who I am, and Storms, we met at ETC3, albeit briefly. I played some great matches with Dark Rob. SwiftTomahawk and I have been running this weekly gig for a couple months now, so it's cool to see some traction.

Nice to hear you'll be there, AC. I'm not sure I'd use the term smoked, they were extremely close matches haha, I'm really looking forward to playing again as well. I also hope you're ready for some Deadliest Warrior too. It's the best worst game ever.

Storms, we run it just about every week so if you have Andrew's number you can always call, or if you're on Facebook we actually have a Facebook group that posts updates, tournament information, and schedules for all this stuff. We could easily add you guys, and anyone interested really, because that's typically how we get the word out for each tourney and if there'll be a week off or something.

Just find us on Facebook and send us a private message saying you're interested in the KoP Weekly or something. If you're having a hard time finding SwiftTomahawk (Andrew), you can always look for me (Kyle Bowers). My profile is hard to mistake because in my picture Spider-man is punching me in the face.

i will def try and make it to at least one of these. I know xxteefxx and I are interested in setting up some mk9 casuals in Philly also. But this is def nice because it seems to already have a good size following. (and a sweet pad with multiple tv's lol) Im not sure if I can make it this sunday but i will try. I'll be sure to grab some photos and or video footage this weekend to give everyone a better idea of what we have going on. While it can be difficult to get something like this started, once the ball is rolling, you'll have your snowman soon enough.

Really great matches AC! It's really refreshing to get some play time against new characters. Cya Sunday.

Yep, we run the weekly every Sunday unless otherwise noted. It's awesome to see that you'll be in attendance this week, we're really looking forward to the influx of new players. Most people show up between 12-1, so if you get there at 10 you'll get to see some of the set up and catch a glimpse of the place before the commotion.

Tournaments typically run from 1 to around 7 or 8 with casuals running both before and after the tournies. I hope you stick around long enough to get in on the Mortal Kombat action, and perhaps even Deadliest Warrior.
