Kentucky Offline Matchmaking

Hey everybody as the title states I am interested in offline matches in Kentucky. Im not sure if there is already somewhere close by where i could get with people for some matches, but if there is not. Then I have a few places in mind where we could start one up. If anyone is interested and in the area please respond to this thread so we can get something going. I cant began to describe how awesome it would be to have a local scene. So put down your banjo and play a few games lol.

Shepherdsville KY, is where im at but definitely willing to travel a bit if needed.

Will this sucks seems im the only one in the area from TYM? Seems like i will need other methods to get something going. Start walking up to random people and asking them if they play MK lol.

You could always scout around SRK or other forums to see if there are any fighting game players in your area. You might be surprised how many are willing to try a new fighting game. I managed to recruit 2 people over the weekend by playing some MK around other players who were playing Blazblue and MVC3. I think that would be the most effective approach.

Yea i went to MKU and seen a few kentucky players there still in the process of working some things out with them. I should give it a try at SRK maybe find something there thanks for the advice.

Edit: Ok so far its looking like we may establish a scene in Lexington, KY. Is there others that want to participate? I still need to call down there and figure it out, so its not written in stone yet but its a start.

Hello sir, I've been using SRK for a couple of months trying to network with other KY MK players. I live in Lexington KY, drove to a tournament in Louisville last month, and would definitely be game for offline matches whether it be casuals or an actual tournament. I've been dying for some sort of MK scene to be established here.

Also keep this in mind: With enough notice I'm willing to drive at least 3 hours, so whether the scene ends up in Lexington, Glasgow or wherever I'm game.

Sounds great JPGalvatron! Glad you are in kentucky and wanting locals. I heard about this tournament in Louisville wish i knew it was going on at the time. Well Lexington seem like the appropriate spot for everyone. It being about 1 hour from me, and about the same for everyone else. Shouldn't be bad for you at all lol. If you hear of a spot there you think will be a good one for locals let us know. Otherwise I will be calling all the game stores I can looking for a place or knowledge of a place. I plan to go to Lexington this weekend just to look around.

Off the top of my head I don't know of a venue. There are tons of gamers here in Lex I just don't have a clue where people congregate aside from their homes. Best of luck on the search this weekend. If there's anything I can do to help feel free to shoot me a PM.

We need to find them. Maybe when I find a good place in Lex they wont mind advertising it a bit. I plan to go there and take pictures of potential places to post here and have a group vote on what everyone thinks.

I'm 3 hours outside Lexington, so I'm willing to come down on a Friday or Saturday sometime. Just give me a few days warning and I can most likely make it, assuming I can get in a few hours of play to make the drive worth it...

Ok man sounds great. I know the drive is a pretty long one but its something you may want to do on occasions i can understand that, and hopefully we can have cash tournaments in the future that may make your drive even more worth it lol. I will add you to the list as well.

Awesome, thanks. 3 hours is really not that bad. If we get a good group together I would have no problem making that drive every weekend. Plus, because of my business, most of my gas expenses are a tax write-off... I'm sure the girlfriend wouldn't mind having the apartment to herself for a few hours either...

I am also thinking about posting up flyers around town lol. Pretty much stating if Kentucky players want offline matches they need to come to TYM for further details. I also work at UPS and there is tons of people there I may just spread the word.

Shit yea man!! I live in Elizabethtown, and Id LOVE to get some offline playtime in. As with others, as long as we get enough notice, I should be able to make it to lexington. And Tricky, cr1ms0n, if either of you wanna get together, lemme know and we can figure some shit out!!

Hell Yea man!!! lol Elizabethtown is close to me. So glad you are in kentucky we will make this stuff happen no reason why there isn't a local scene here. Im game for anything man. Also when a Lexington scene is established we could car pool or something if you want.

I move back to morehead, KY here in a few weeks. I have the perfect spot for you guys there if lex does not work out. I know its not as convenient, but I can provide a huge room with space for tons of setups, bathrooms and even top quality overhead projection. Plus I will be trying to spread the scene with the college students down there so with your attendance the scene can only grow. Just giving you guys something to think about. =]
