is there a way to play vs a room mate?

i got a PS4 pad and an HORI RAP 3 which does not have home button support

so when im in the character select, my room mate always can press buttons for me but he cant choose a character on his own

is there a way to play against him or do i need a second ps4 pad / stick wit home button support?

You need a DS4 for each player, even if they're using a wired ps3 pad/stick.
