Question Input Errors. Help?

I just recently picked up GL and I've been doing OK so far, but sometimes my inputs don't come out. Like, at all. I try to do the Back+1, 3 string but he ends up doing the slide and then the turbine. The practice mode button log doesn't show the back-forward motion, only the back. I don't know what to do, and this is seriously screwing up my online fights. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
