I don't think limiting tournaments to over 100 entrants only is a good idea because there are only what, 20 or 30 top players? Say 50 for the sake of argument. After that, it's just fluff.

A 50 man tournament with all the top players is as good as a 100 man tournament surely? Quality not quantity?

Did you use ELO or some other competitive statistics approach? Because otherwise the weighting of the values is going to be misleading and the ranking/scores won't accurately reflect reality. (Based on historical analysis of chess, tennis, and other 1v1 competitive endeavors).

My only disagreement is with the placement of Scorpion. He's not top 10. (Current Scorpion)

Everything else, I agree.

G4S Silent Jay

I enjoy hurting you.
I do find it funny that all of Scorpion's Top 8 placements were at CEO, where he was hardly played in Top 8, which was all pre-patch.

Still, awesome to see a list that goes based on the results and not "I have a hard time against this character so they MUST be the best (and need to be nerfed/normalized)!".

The elo formula looks like...

E_A = 1 / ( 1 + pow( 10, ( (R_B - R_A) / 400 ) ) )
R_A_N = R_A + round( K * (S_A - E_A) )
E_A = expected score for player A
R_A = real/current ELO-score of player A
R_B = real/current ELO-score of player B
*K = weighting factor - normally 15, for top-players 10, for beginners 25
The 'Ducati-Style'-CTF-League uses a value of 50 to get more significant changes for the scores after a match!
S_A = match result of player A (1 for a victory, 0.5 for a draw, 0 for a defeat)
R_A_N = new ELO-rating of player A
Assuming a fresh start, you would put everyone at 1000 and then let the system rank them up/down from there.

although i agree with you, as a game evolves and characters evolve i think it will take care of itself. this is as objective as i wanted to get. im not trying to use a nascar point system. maybe this can me the 2013 rankings and it resets in 2014 or something

Yeah, it was just a suggestion. I'm actually working on a FGC Elo system currently as part of my larger stats project. :)

Where the fuck is doomsday ? This char won more tournaments (majors..) that any other char..

when i edit the post it changes the size of everything... a variety. when i edit it changes all the spacing.
This is likely a problem with the size of the edit box, compared to the size of the message posting box that you used for the original post.

The spacing problem sounds like it has to do with the fact you are using the Arial font in the original post. Somehow, not using the default Georgia font causes some errors with the spacing.

based on appearances in major tournaments top 8s. they more a character appears in top 8s the high on the list they go. currently black adam is the most used character in the top 8 of majors

raven has 2 appearances and finished on average higher than say... sinestro
You do realize that there isn't an overwhelming correlation between character skill and player skill. Just because black adam has won the most tournaments doesn't mean he's the best character. A great player maining bane will beat a good player maining black adam anyday, but that doesn't mean bane is better than black adam (how can you even make an intelligent argument off your stupid logic?) Look at the stats from "most popular characters in fighting games" on event hubs, it says that the highest percentage of highly skilled players main superman, which means superman is the best (experience of the community will back this claim). Your stupid list means nothing.
