Injustice: Gods Among Us Cheesers Should be Ashamed of Themselves

Dropping Combos like a MotherFucker!
For many online players, Deathstroke's risk/reward ratio is too good to pass up. How many bad reads in a row does it take before the opponent can get in close? And even one good read sends them tumbling back to the other side of the screen. The only way to beat Deathstroke zoners is to be MUCH better than they are, which takes a lot of practice. I guess the same sort of thing could be said of fellow zoners (Joker???) if the opponent is unskilled enough.

I understand the frustration of the author, as the game is NOT very well balanced on the casual level. However, rather than take time to learn how to get past these issues, he goes on a giant rant. Not a very productive way of approaching the issue.

"Aren't you sick of the cheesers in Injustice: Gods Among Us, too?

Let me tell you a story, a true story, about one of my online experiences while playing Injustice: Gods Among Us that actually inspired me to write this. My wife and I were just sitting on the couch the other night; she was playing Super Mario Bros. 2 on her DS, so I decided to play a few rounds of Injustice: Gods Among Us. After three matches in a row against cheesers (in the gaming world, a cheeser is a person who repeatedly performs the same moves in fighting games in order to win), I decided to play just one more match and then call it quits.
This is when my rage really began. My opponent wasn't only a cheeser, but he was a cheeser with a microphone that knew he was cheesing. He selected The Joker, and I chose Nightwing for a change of pace. For the entire match, he stood on the opposite side of the screen and just kept shooting me, and shooting me, and shooting me until he was victorious; I didn't even have a chance. Clearly, he left his dignity at the door. And, to make matters more enraging, he did so while talking on the mic, saying, “I'm just going to apologize in advance for how I'm going to win. People say that I don't play fair.” Umm, okay dude.

My overall record is 208 wins and 104 losses, so it isn't like I'm the worst player in the world. Like many others, I do have a character which I favor heavily: Ares. But, I'm no cheeser. I play to win, of course, but I also play to have fun, which I also envision my opponent attempting to do. Unfortunately, Ares isn't the best character to play as if you want to win, which I quickly learned after playing Injustice: Gods Among Us for a week or so. The best characters for winning are the easiest ones to cheese with: The Joker, Deathstroke, Green Lantern, or Scorpion.

My record with Ares is 102 wins and 55 losses, making my win percentage 65%; not too shabby. I briefly went on a cheesing spree with Deathstroke and won 15 out of 17 matches in a row for an 88% win percentage. I immediately felt guilty, and I no longer use Deathstroke (he also can shoot endlessly from one side of the screen).

I'd like to think that fighting with any character in Injustice: Gods Among Us is an art, and with practice comes perfection. Or, at least that's what I thought until I noticed the blatant cheesing by many players online. Many gamers are just in it to win it, no matter how much fun the game actually is, or in this case, isn't. With Joker and Deathstroke, I know that my opponent is likely going to stay on the opposite side of the screen from me and just keep shooting their guns. But probably more frustrating than those two is Green Lantern's ring throwing maneuver. It is impossible to win against a seasoned Green Lantern user, as he will throw you twice to begin a long combo, wait until you get up, and then do the exact same thing over and over again until your health bar is depleted. And then, there's one of the newbies to Injustice: Scorpion. Scorpion does this incredibly obnoxious morph where he flies out of the right of the screen and then immediately flies back into the left side of the screen to begin a combo. And, this morphing can be done over and over and over again.

The amount of cheesing that occurs online in Injustice: Gods Among Us is almost so unbearable that I want to put my game on eBay and just be done with it, but I can't do that, because aside from the cheesers, there are some fun-loving and highly skilled opponents, such as myself, still online. I've encountered numerous players that I've re-matched more than once because they were a truly talented player that provided a challenge (without cheesing), and our exchanges were back-and-forth. Those types of players are the reason I continue to play Injustice.

I know what a lot of you will say: “It's a part of the game, so why shouldn't I use it?” Well, because you should be a respectable and honorable fighter, that's why! Players should fight like they would in a real fight. Granted, you won't be habdoukening or shroyukening your way to victory in a real fight, but my point is that an honorable man would fight fairly. An honorable man wouldn't repeatedly throw a fist of sand in his opponent's eyes for victory, would he? No. He'd put his fists up, and find another way to win.

NetherRealm should have put some sort of voting system in place to punish the cheesers somehow. Instead, cheesers are rewarded with easy W's.

This isn't me being a sore loser or a poor sport. I'm just another frustrated gamer who spent $60 on Injustice but is stuck with prominent cheesers stealing my wins from me. So, I'm asking all Injustice players to stop the cheesing. Forget your cheesing ways and learn some true strategy. Think about how much fun you're not having by just repeatedly spamming a gun shot, and how much fun you're taking away from your opponent."

TLDR: Joker is OP. Guy goes to Urban Outfitters to buy a fedora.

The best part is that he's using a picture of The Joker shooting Green Lantern from like 2 feet away. He can't duck and punish. He only has one speed - Go.

with all do respect if joker was OP as you are saying wouldn't there be more jokers, i mean i know that it's pretty annoying when people start to use the same move but i think that at the same those guys that are doing it become predictable and if you learn to block it they are screwed right? now SUPERMAN is other story ........... he is god shhhhhhhhhh.

(Talking about Joker) "For the entire match, he stood on the opposite side of the screen and just kept shooting me, and shooting me, and shooting me until he was victorious; I didn't even have a chance."

I actually burst out laughing after reading this.

Guy is either lying or he is the least skilled person on the planet. Either way he should never be allowed to write again or play a fighting game again.
