When is this beta going to end?? And with how long this thing is going, I am fully expecting an amazing online experience day 1. there are no excuses this time.

While I understand giving streamers and known players beta codes, it objectively does give some players a huge advantage.

During the Week 1 tournaments, the recipients of early beta codes will basically have 5x the experience with the game compared to players who just started playing at release. While one could argue the same players would likely win anyway, this practice virtually guarantees this result.

If the beta was truly just to test the netcode, I actually wish they would STOP adding more characters to the beta. The advantage from having an early beta code will erode quickly, so it's fine long term, but this is honestly killing my desire to join early tournaments.

This ALMOST applies to a brand new game. For a legacy game, you are basically reaching for drama at this point.
The fact that it's a legacy game definitely reduces the advantage a lot. However, I think it'd be silly to suggest there is no difference between someone playing a game for 5 weeks compared to someone playing a game for 1 week. There are new mechanics, new matchups, and the difference in walk speed completely changes the footsie game.

Do you really think that if you had two players of equal skill and you gave one 5 weeks to prepare and the other 1 week to prepare, they would have an equal chance of placing in a tournament?

I don't actually think it's a big deal if the first few weeks of play aren't as fair as they could be, but it is annoying in the short term.

that sounds like a scary scenario, good thing there's a month gap and youtube and teams / training partners to help fill in that skill gap.

I feel like at this point with Canary and BB they may be avoiding adding legacy characters to the beta to give players a chance to try out the new ones. Just a thought though, I do think they will update the beta once or twice more and considering all the backlash they've received over the codes, they might extend it for an extra couple of weeks or whatever.

On another note, with this newest update I do feel like the netcode is actually worse than it was before and for some reason the character select is super delayed for me (unsure if it's happening to anyone else,) so I do think they will fix that.

It's going to get worse every update. Server load is real. That's the whole point of this.

Yeah the character select screen delay is awful. It has caused me to pick the wrong character a couple times. Now I'm careful to go awkwardly slow when choosing.
