If this will help you make a decision, I'll list Scorpion's pros and cons as a character.
First, the pros.
1) He doesn't give a fuck about interactables being used against him, thanks to his teleport. In fact, he
controls interactables (sort of).
2) Going air-to-air against Scorpion will get you cut down by his jump-3.
3) Unless you're one of a few specific characters, fighting Scorpion from full-screen will get you nowhere. Stand there or walk your way in and expect to get Hellfired. Jump from too far and say hello to teleport punch or spear. In a sense, he's a weaker version of a counter-zoner.
4) Seeing him yell, "Get over here!" and, "Come here!" is godlike.
And now, let's get to the staggering list of cons.
1) As an Acrobat character, he's limited in the field of interactables.
2) His normals have mediocre attack range.
3) His trait, outside of prolonging combos, is shit-tier.
4) Damage is shit.
5) You have to drain Scorpion's meter
a lot in order to keep doing his vortex. You do build meter fast in Injustice, but for what Scorpion is equipped with, it doesn't pay off enough.
6)
Nothing he can do is safe. Not flipkick, not the b2 overhead, not the b1 2 string, not his leg takedown, not even the fucking Meter-Burn teleport! You are constantly putting your life on the line unless you're going for a punish.
7) He has a great dash, but
terrible walk speed. I probably should have listed his dash in the pros, but I won't bother.
8) Hellfire is so easily avoidable, it's not even worth using to counter-zone.
Did I cover all of it? I bet so.
Still, if you enjoy Scorpion and want to experiment with him as a character, I would welcome you to do so. But for serious tournament play, as much as I want to tell you to go for it...it's not worth it. There are a few characters he bodies with no mercy, but everything I listed above ought to hint to you that you won't want to just use Scorpion when going into tournaments.
Those of you who watched Final Round 17 may remember how I popped off about how NRS always gives Scorpion a raw deal. He better be viable in MK10...
