Ideal character

There it is...
So say you could put a character frankenstein style made up from other characters moves and specials and he/she/both? had:

5 normal combo strings

5 specials ( with a possible extra if u chose to have a sheeva hitbox) Obv close mid far projectiles count as one special

And why? I have been using the forum for a wee while now and havent seen one of these but im sure there has prolly been lots of em in the past. Just curios to see the opinion's of decent players on this.

It's less to do with the amount of strings and specials and more to do with how effective they are. Characters tend to be designed on the basic principles of grappler, zoner, rushdown (these tend to be most common archetypes in fighting game at least but you can have hybrids and variations) and even on a simpler scale of risk vs reward (High vs high. Low vs low. High vs low. Low vs high)

Technically speaking, you could have a character with one really safe and high damaging special move (full screen projectile for example) and one really safe, high damaging string (for example sake: 1, 2, 3 - all plus on block). But that's kinda boring in terms of character design....and borderline broken too XD

I guess if you really wanted to quantify it, at least 2 special moves is a fair starting point (although 3 onwards seems to be the norm in most FGs). Strings depends really on how the character is designed to get damage, which is a whole science in and of it self, so it's too difficult to really pin point. From the FGs I've played, every character has at least one basic string in terms of universal pressure - but it really depends on a number of factors (character design, game design, frame data etc)

If you're just talking Frankenstein-like monsters though:
2 specials (Fully invincible AA and full screen Projectile, both plus on block)
1 million strings (everything plus on block, fully invincible)

Ok on topic.. sorta. I'm gonna make a broken normal moveset that has at most 6 strings following each input (not counting the input itself) but I'll keep the specials at 5, not including a stance (which makes it 6 technically) Also since I'm cheap, air-only specials only count as 1/2.

Rediculous mobility, safe 5050s that lead to resets because of the nutpunch. Nut punch & cyrax bombs for infinites.
21212 string for a 7f standing normal.

Command grab safe jump for B23 and B312 mixup, as well as F33 Ex Shoulder.
Smoke bombs for resets, mixed in with shoulders and divekicks.

I think this character would be a bit rediculous.
