Do you guys even care about the story? The Joker's death was what set the story off and the most memorable part of the game's campaign. You don't need Joker to sell a game about the Justice League; we've already got Batman, Flash, Green Lantern, Superman, Supergirl, and Wonder Woman. Outside of the story, the distinction between hero and villain is irrelevant in a 1v1 fighting game. So leave Joker dead for some time; show us as fans the meaning of loss and that even an evil clown can be missed.

Everyone made the same sort of plot based arguments before mkx concerning who would and wouldn't make the roster. Remember how many people were convinced that Johnny, Sonya, and Jax wouldn't make it because their kids were in? Etc.

The bottom line is that the joker is arguably a top 3-5 DC character in terms of sheer popularity and notoriety and easily the most iconic (and important) villain in the entire batman universe. Making a DC fighting game without the joker would be just as absurd as making a DC fighting game without batman or superman. (E.G. It's not going to happen)

Also, as a general rule, where there's batman, there's the joker.
