I Need Help. MKX Noob PS4 (First Ever Fighting Game)

Timing is strict for certain combos in this game, look for certain cues that indicate when to press your next button, for example if a character does a kick press when their foot goes back to the ground etc.

Also Liu Kang's FBF 4 is extremely hard to combo into, check the Liu Kang combo thread to try to get some easier ones down
So I have to look out for cue's when to combo & not just input it all at once? So for example if I did do Liu Kangs f44, fbf4 I have to wait for Liu's leg to go back down before I input fbf4?

Thanks I appreciate the help. I haven't got no one to play with as I mostly play fifa & other games with friends so i'll have to find someone to train with but my main focus is learning combo's before I get into anything else more advanced. I'll check out the videos too, thanks again
Depending on the internet you have, online can still be good - especially for beginners where you can really start to grasp the fundamentals of the game with other players. The combos are aimed at beginners and they don't require hard execution, but I suppose it's hard for me to say that since I'm not a beginner anymore; I hope that they're easy to follow.

Combos can be hard to do when you're new but don't give up man! :)

My internet is pretty good plus I use a ethernet cable for my PS4 as I play nearly every game online anyway. Played about 16 non ranked & lost about 5 (makes me sound better than what I am tho, vs'ed mostly beginners like me in lobbies) & about 8 ranked & lost about 4 I think, maybe played more ranked but once I vs a good player ranked I know I won't win haha. I'm just gonna keep practicing with a couple of different characters & learn combo's before I go back online because I can only win against other people who can't combo or people who can but still on my tyoe of level as a beginner so I can block & punish them. I'm gonna try all this tomorrow after work, just reading up on a couple of things now & watching the videos everyone posted. Thanks for the encouragement anyway, I'm determined to get better & at least be able to do combo's. I've always liked MK (plus films) but never get the games because I suck at them but this time I'm determined to learn because I like the game & then hopefully by the next MK i'll no longer be a noob haha

Dont wait. Just do it one input after the next. Try doing it as fast as you can. If you find it comes out when you do really fast than see if you can slow it down a bit from there. The timing is fast but nothing too ridiculous.

Hi everyone. I'm new to this site, made an account today as I've been looking everywhere for tips/help with MKX and this seems like the best option. To start off with this is my first ever fighting game (apart from MK 1&2 when I was a kid but hardly remember them) and I just can't seem to get to grips with what I'm doing. I wouldn't say I'm a complete 100% noob as I have completed the story mode and won a few fights online but fighting online was just doing moves (no combos), whenever I face someone good they just tear me apart with combo's and I can't seem to block or stop them. I have been corner raped by predator where he just kept bouncing me off the ground before I could even get back up :S plus I have faced a meliena that just kept jumping on my face from far away and I couldn't stop it. I can only seem to use Liu Kang, it's the only character I feel comfortable with and the only moves I know are the basics like fireball, the flying kick, the multiple flying kicks/punches. Every other character feels slow plus none of my combos ever work. I have tried to do a simple Liu Kang combo in training multiple times that involves (PS4) F OO then FBF O to do the 3 standing kicks that combos into the multiple kicks to the chest but no matter how I do it I can never chain moves together. I can go fast/really fast, time it so when last kick is about to hit do it then etc etc but nothing seems to work. I'll even show people me doing the combo in practise with button inputs so u can see I am doing it right and can do it fast enough etc. Even read up about release checking and turned it off but nothing works. If someone could help/give me tips/train me at this game I would really appreciate it a lot. All I want is to learn the basics of doing combos etc but just can't seem to do anything plus I can only play good (good to me) with Liu Kang lol. I'm in EU, my PS4 game tag is: Gary_LFC_08. Thanks
Hi
Liu Kang just feels the most comfortable player to use for me but i'm going to try messing around with other characters. I'll give Kano a try as i've never thought about using him. I never mash the buttons even if i'm getting my ass kicked because I want to learn the game properly, I have choked a couple of times tho in a online match where i just don't know what to do & do random moves from panicking lol. I watch quite a few streams off good players on ps4 too but I haven't got no one to play with as I mostly play fifa & other games with friends so need to try & find someone I can train with. I'll check out the video too, thanks for all the help I really appreciate it
hi iam new to fighting games as well, spent 3 months in practice, with dummie and AI interactive(actually fighting me) and its coming together, start small i first learned to do db2 and learned to do it from both sides of the screen(do not just practice with a dummie also practice with a interactive AI fighter even if it is on very easy to start, and you need to learn how to do the move whether it is a basic or a kombo or a special move from both sides of the screen) if you want we can practice online together and practice in a fair manner, again learn how to do db2 then practice b33 or b34 or f44 and get the timing down for all then put them together d34xxdb2(b33xxdb2 and f44xxdb2) and with lots of practice it will become easy, and when you can do this from both sides of the screen, then instead of db2 do bf2, when you get that down practice fbf4 by itself until you can do it in your sleep, then just add the b34 or b33 or f44 and build from there, one hint for f44xxfbf4 when you hit the last 4 of f44 release the f and then hit fbf4 if not it will read as f444 and this is a kombo move not a special move kombo, leave me your ps4 user name and i will friend you and we can practice together and slowly get better, another piece of advice, for button pushing for the db2, if find it easy to press the d and slide my thumb to b and then press 2, instead of pressing d then b then 2, press d(down) slide your thumb to b(back) and press 2 , this is fast and easy, when you get this down now try bf2 the same way, but it is harder because it is easy to accidently touch the up and down direction button as you slide your thumb from b(back) to f(forward), have fun scott, if you want leave me your user name for ps4 so we can practice

I know it will take time & i'm willing to learn, I was thinking about selling the game because I couldn't get used to it but I kept practicing after the story mode & found I liked Liu Kang. I'm still a noob but know most of Liu Kangs moves so I can put up a fight against an average player but I just can't combo yet. It's my first fighting game so it will peobably take me a very long time to get to a decent level but hopefully u guys from the site can help me learn quicker as i'm in it for the long run
Then I along with everyone in this thread will do everything we can to help you get better. I'm glad you have the dedication to go through with it

That's what I usually do, try and do all the inputs as fast as I can but it hasn't been working but I have only been practising with Liu Kang. Just got home from work so I'll give other characters and Liu Kang another try after all the advice. Thanks again

Yeah I'm up for practising. I usually do mess around with the dummy first and then switch the character AI to fight me but I have only been using Liu Kang so going to try practising with other characters too. Thanks for the help I really appreciate it and sorry for the late reply as I've only just finished work. My PS4 is Gary_LFC_08
