I found out how to play 8v8 kombat online!

It's actually very simple too.

  • Go into friendly kombat
  • Pick Scorpion
  • Go to the Subway stage (8-8-0|0-88)
  • Perform Scorpion's "Pack" fatality (f-f-d-u-run)
  • The game will glitch/reset and send you back to the main menu, and 2p will remain in the game.
  • From there you can select 2 on 2 kombat or 8v8 tournament

Additional notes:

When selecting Mortal Kombat, 2p will spectate and can join at any time.
When selecting 2 on 2 kombat, when the fight finishes you will go back to the XBL friendly match screen
When selecting 8v8 you can even play/watch the endings with 2p, sadly 1p will not become Noob Saibot.

it works. nice. but u can only play one time and after match is done u gotta do it all over again : /

If you play 8v8 you can continue to play over and over again even after the tournament is over. But yeah, 2 on 2 kombat resets the XBL game. I'm thinking maybe if you press start at the end of the game you can continue playing, the same works for the standard tournament mode with two players. The whole thing basically puts you in what I like to call "Local mode" so anything 1p selects 2p will follow.
