How to cancel into 'Rain God'?

His down-down-up projectile. I can't for the life of me figure out how to cancel into it. I know it's possible though because I've gotten it a handful of times. Is there some trick?

Edit: for example f2,1xx d,d,u

Edit2: never mind I had the input window at "Short". Changed to Long now it works.
