How to approach Kung Lao?

CitizenSnips

A seldom used crab named Lucky. AKA Citizen Snips.
So I have trouble beating good Kung Lao players who are good at using his specials.

I can easily punish teleport or dive spammers, but when people mix them up the whole match I tend to lose badly.

The dive sometimes is just thrown out but I can't really punish since he doesn't actually hit me. Eventually I get caught by it.

It seems like all of his specials are really good. His pop up is an excellent counter and interrupts my 1, 2, 2 forceball combo.

I just seem to be on the defensive the whole match in fear of getting divebombed.

Any tips on how to approach him? :taz:

In between his specials, or when you know he's going to do one, acid spit. You both get hit, but, you get stunned and he gets a knock down. You have time to approach with elbow dash before he reacts again. You need to bait his teleports, even though he can attack out of them, ex forceball (And you should have the meter to spare) is quick, should tag him and give you a bounce before he can do anything. The best advice i can give you is trade projectiles with acid spit, command dash to advance instead of regular dash, and slide. Even if you get hit by a hat, at least you're closing distance.

Thank you sir. I'm trying my best. Played Kurasa at a tourney, and while it was his first day on the game, Kung is easy, and he was doing work. Best advice I can give now is, try to ex invis any way possible (Rep has tons of safe options into this), sweep him, acid spit trades, tag his teleports with whatever (uppercut works fine, green hand is okay too, but I 90% of the time just used uppercut.) and try to tag his normal pressure with an elbow dash, giving you the knockdown and advancement opportunities.
