Kung Lao is played based purely on punishes and reads. Most of his spacing tools aren't that good and his mids have gaps. F2 (gap) 3 (gap) DB1. Free punish. If you end a string in DB1 you're only -3 so unless facing a character with a fast mid you can make a read to keep pressure going or punish. If you want to have any pressure you need random stagger strings and good reads after EX DB1. The character is difficult to use now because it almost forces you to not make a mistake. If you do make a mistake as Kung Lao, you usually eat a full combo and get put into pressure where you can't make a mistake getting out or full combo.
