Hello TYM and help plz

Hello,
I am 27 and have gotten into fighting games over the past year. started with SF4 and KoF casually. I recently Purchased Injustice and have fallen inlove with the game. I have several questions:
1. I am having problems chosing a main. In SSF4 I really enjoy playing cammy as a rush down character with quick movements/attacks and staying in your face. Some suggestions would be great!
2. I just recently purchased my first arcade stick and am struggling with converting. Proper hand placement, Should i use as many fingers as possible on my right hand, and whats the most effect hand style and grip on the stick etc..

I read a lot about crazy combos on these boards but when i watch tournaments more basic ones with less damage are usually used. I also feel lost with reading about +/- frames, frame traps, and a few others that currently arent coming 2 mind. I dont have any friends that currently enjoy fighting games enough to learn with/teach me. So all research is done on my own.

thank you for reading and i appreciate all advice

Get over here!
Welcome to the forums. As for your question regarding mains... you should try out everyone to see who fits your style. I suggest completing everyone's arcade mode. It will give you a good 10 matches to see if you like the character. I mean Batman/Superman are great beginner characters that are top tier. Both are easy on the execution... and both are fun. They have some of the best tools in the game. So maybe start there. :)

I don't own a stick so... yeah...

What system are you on? Maybe someone would be willing to help you.

I suggest taking a look at Nightwing and Catwoman.

>Combos
The batshit-crazy, high damage combos are usually impractical and tough to perform in the intensity of a real match. More practical combos, known as Bread 'n Butters (BnBs) are the go-to combos for efficiency in execution and damage.

Generally the shorter combos are more consistent and in some cases more rewarding if they lead to vortexes and other such favorable situations.

+/- frames refer to advantage on hit/block. Since you asked about frame traps we'll talk about block advantage. If you have a move that leaves you at advantage, let's say +6, then your 12 frame move becomes 6 frames, and their 12 frame move would be 18.

Frame traps are situations where you are at enough advantage that your opponent has to respect it. For example, Bane's b.1 is +12 on block, so his 18 frame b.2 is 6 frames, so your only options are to back dash or try and trade with your own six frame move, or you can super and use the armor to escape instead.

I think that's a good explanation..

Honestly I've found Killer Frost to be sort of like Cammy with her effective anti-air d.2 and slide, but Catwoman is also a close one.

See Alien's post.

>Combos
This is more character dependant and honestly theres a fair trade off. With BnB combos like listed above you tend to get the most efficient combos. However, there are also many other kinds of things like resets, which sacrifice the reliable damage of a BnB to try and trick the opponent and reap even more damage out of it.

You'll want to figure a character first so you can get more specific examples, but Alien definitely got the main point across.
