Yes, how dare thy speak their native tongue in their country.
I don't give a shit what they do in their native country. I'm saying that if they're streaming for the SOLE PURPOSE of presenting information to viewers, and next to none of those viewers speak Greek, then the effort is almost entirely wasted.

If there were more people in the stream who spoke Greek, I wouldn't have cared. But since pretty much no one except the people who are already there (and therefore don't need the stream) will understand what they're saying on camera, why are they talking on camera? Why not just speak the majority language if they can?

Believe it or not, we had a lot of Greek people watching as well.

its not only Murrica that exists.
I wasn't aware. At the time I left, only one person in the stream out of 10 present spoke Greek. If more showed up later then of course it makes sense.

And no, my argument isn't some racist misplaced American nationalist sentiment. It's pure pragmatism - if you're conveying information to an audience, it's best to do so in a format that the audience actually understands.

I'm sorry if speaking our own language is reason enough not to watch the stream, regardless of high lvl footage.
It's not reason enough. I listed three things which, together, made the stream unwatchable. To reiterate:

(1) When I left, the tournament was announced as canceled. So the expectation was that everything would be casuals, which is less interesting.
(2) The frame rate when I left was less than one every few seconds, so it was impossible to tell what the hell was going on.
(3) When I left, the commentary was in a language that only one viewer out of 10 spoke.

Those together made the viewing experience basically nonexistent. If you fixed all that since I left then fine - making it a better stream is the main reason I brought it up. But those were the problems.

All those were fixed.

All I got out of that rant was 'Murica. Also was this really just a 4 man tourney?
Then you're an idiot.

I don't care if it's French people speaking Hindi to Guatemalans. If the Guatemalans don't speak Hindi, then they're wasting their time.

Likewise, I wouldn't care if it was in Italian, since several viewers were from Italy. It just made no sense if no one watching could understand them. Obviously based on what Qwark said that changed, but at the time I left it was true.

You may be right about that. But did you ever think this is more like the French broadcasting Hindi around the world for anyone to watch? And if the guatemalans want to watch but can't understand is that really the french's fault? How could they know the people who were actually going to watch the stream didn't understand the language before hand. And what if the French decided to cater to the Guatemalans even if they don't speak Spanish by finding Spanish speaking commentators. Is it really worth it to change for the 9 people who don't understand?

The major clue is that the tournament was advertised in English... and the fact that everyone in the chat was speaking English, and no one speaking Greek... and the fact that we actually told them that....

And ultimately your hypo misses the mark. I'm not saying people are entitled to communication that they can understand. I'm saying if you're trying to communicate a message but none of your audience understands it, you're wasting your time.

But you're right. I'm racist for even mentioning that they might want to consider discussing in a different language. Derp derp derp.

Advertised in English on an English-speaking forum, and the only viewers (at the time I was there) didn't speak Greek. And tournaments abroad are very often casted in different languages. And again, I wouldn't give a shit if the language they casted in wasn't one I understand as long as it's one that a decent chunk of the viewers understand - then it's not a total waste of time.

But sure, keep calling my legitimate point invalid because you construed it to be racist. And keep ignoring the fact that it had to be combined with two other problems to create the ultimate problem that no information was getting through. Moron.
